To think this shower gel is not rude and they are being ridiculous

It's a Sun link, sorry: thesun.uk/61898OEwv

Basically some grandparents are outraged about the instructions on a bottle of Lush shower gel which they bought their granddaughter for Christmas.

They are being ridiculous, no?

.... that is in no way supporting the Sad Face report or Macy's grandfather

Sallystyle · 02/01/2017 19:38

I love the 'putty' (Fun) I get loads of bubbles out of it and can use it as soap and shampoo. I don't make fun shapes out of it though but do like a squeeze.

SnowFairy is not meant to be for kids.

AVirginLitTheCandle · 02/01/2017 19:39

Come to think of it, a lot of Lush products have innuendos on the labels. If she really shops there on a regular basis like she claims she would know that.

HelenaGWells · 02/01/2017 19:42

Lush isn't aimed at kids and never has been. Most people would baulk at paying lush prices for something for kids to use. However as bath products that don't have a lot of crap in them they are fine for all ages to use and to be fair Lush do say that on the website.

The primary target market for the kitsch stuff like this is students/teens and always has been. As a result of this demographic a few of the bottles etc have innuendo on them. For the vast majority of kids it wouldn't even register. It's an adult mind that finds it rude (and in most cases laughs) If you go into Lush (if you can stomach the smell) it is ALWAYS predominantely full of students and people in their 20's in my experience.

My kids have used Snow Fairy because I can't stand the sickly sweet smell and I was given some. Neither of them commented about the bottle. I assume if they read it they interpreted it as "ask your mum if you don't know how to wash your hair" as I would expect most kids to (assuming they read the bottle at all).

Considering how much of the stuff they sell 3 or 4 comments is nothing. The message has been on the bottle for at least 3 years as far as I can remember. There are lots of other innuendo messages as well on different things.

I can see why people may think this specific product is aimed at kids as it's very sweet and sickly and it does say "suitable for all ages" on the website but Lush has never marketed towards kids to my knowledge. I would expect the vast majority of people who buy LUSH for kids to be those who use it themselves and thus know about the packaging.

AVirginLitTheCandle · 02/01/2017 19:42

But it wasn't the play doh with the message on. It was the shower gel which isn't aimed at kids and all of the Lush shower gels have that printed on the label.

LuluJakey1 · 02/01/2017 19:43

The granny is really po-faced.

HelenaGWells · 02/01/2017 19:45

I happened to pick up the bottle and was reading aloud how to use it.

Who has EVER done this?

Simonneilsbeard · 02/01/2017 19:47

I love lush. All their bottles have that on. It's not really aimed at children. It's a witty instruction not an order lol she's being completely ridiculous..as is the fact the she went to the Sun newspaper. A vile rag.

haveacupoftea · 02/01/2017 19:47

Hope they offer her 10 free bottles as compensation Grin

LynetteScavo · 02/01/2017 19:49

Lush products aren't aimed at kids. My 11yo has just got into Lush...it's costing me a small fortune. She would totally get this and roll around in hysterical laughter red in the face. At 8 years old she would have taken it at face value. Get someone to show you. Like Mum.

The Sun is full of nonsense.

bumsexatthebingo · 02/01/2017 19:51

Well I'm not outraged but I am off to peel that bit of the label off dd's bottle now! She bought it with her pocket money recently and when we were in the shop the assistant suggested it to her! It's pink and called fairy, smells of candyfloss and is being pushed on kids who enter the shop so I think it's fair to say they are marketing it at kids!

bumsexatthebingo · 02/01/2017 19:52

My dd is a VERY young looking 8 btw.

creakyknees13 · 02/01/2017 19:52

Lush is definitely not aimed at children. There are lots of sexual innuendo products like the Sex Bomb bathbomb and some of the massage bars. To be fair the Snow Fairy smells like bubblegum so I don't know that many adults who would want to use it, but it's still not something that is aimed at or marketed at children.

Quality sad-face though

Jellybean83 · 02/01/2017 19:52

I buy Snow Fairy every year and I've never noticed that before. That sad face is epic. 😂

Fuxfurforall · 02/01/2017 19:53

It isn't specifically marketed for children, neither is Lush generally. Mr and Mrs Disgruntled- compo-sad-face at their best. They need to take a wider look at the world's problems and get a grip, in my humble opinion.

bumsexatthebingo · 02/01/2017 19:54

So the robot bath bombs that say they are specially designed for children over 6 months on them and the rainbow bath playdoh is for adults then?????

Sunshine59 · 02/01/2017 19:58

Never been in lush as it's so smelly from the outside I thought it was marketed at younger/teenagers. I might pop in and have a look now.
That photo made a giggle though

PolarEspresso · 02/01/2017 20:00

fluttering back to our shelves this season, Little Snow Fairy is a treat for all ages! Lather up with Snow Fairy Shower Gel for super soft skin that's been kissed with sweetness or get in the tub with Snow Fairy Fun and create your own Snow Fairy that you can use as shampoo, soap, toy or crumble it under running water for mounds and mounds of the sweetest bubbles for your bath.

That sounds more like a product aimed at kids than adults to me?

PossumInAPearTree · 02/01/2017 20:01

I've used the bath play doh. It's great.

FurryLittleTwerp · 02/01/2017 20:02

That photo Shock - there's a resting bitch face if ever I saw one Grin

OurMiracle1106 · 02/01/2017 20:02

I'm 28 and was bought a lovely snow fairy set for xmas from my amazing flat mates girlfriend as she knows it's one of my favourites.

I don't think lush is aimed at kids. Their main marketing is aimed at adults, the no testing on animals and natural ingredients etc most kids have little inclination to care about.

bumsexatthebingo · 02/01/2017 20:03

Agreed PolarEspresso!

Sybys · 02/01/2017 20:05

I love a good sadface, but I do think they have a point here, and it does seem to be an 'all ages' product with a bit of a focus on kids.

I think it's fine for them to complain, but it wouldn't cross my mind to get the press involved!

NotYoda · 02/01/2017 20:08

The packaging is el cheapo-looking

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 02/01/2017 20:09

What's written on the jellies then AVirgin? I always sneeze as I walk past Lush so don't want to go in to find out, but I really want to know now!
