Or is Dh for not getting checked out

Just that really, my dh feels like his left arm is numb/heavy for the last 2-3 hours with slight pins and needles in hand. He has a tendency to think the worst but normally he won't go to the Drs unless it's really bad but this time he called 111. They got a paramedic to call him back who said our nearest out of hours dr had closed their books but he could be seen 35miles away at another one. They also said he needs to be seen, but hubby is now saying if it gets worse I can take him to A&E but he's not dragging the kid out to drive 35 miles for nothing or to be told they are keeping him there. Part of me thinks he's right but I do think he should just let me take him
Sorry for the essay

yeah complete waste of everyones time to make sure he's not actually at death's door Confused

glad hes ok for the time being at least- now you just need to make sure he actually sees the cardiologist!

Your dh is a twat for complaining, and without wanting to scare you I would
Be keeping a very close eye on him even after tests have shown nothing at the moment.

Fil had a massive heart attack last year, after seeing medics most days for nearly 2 weeks. The morning of it, he had really bad indigestion. By evening he was feeling worse and they called Bil to take him to the hospital, ringing us to let us know what was happening. We convinced them to call an ambulance and we were bloody lucky, had they ignored us or had fil been taken ill just an hour later, he would not have been with us. He took the last bed that day in the specialist hospital. A family friend had to be transferred to another hospital much further out just an hour or so later and, although it was a milder heart attack for him, he was in and ill a while longer as they had to put him in a coma while they waited for a specialist to get to him.

Flumpsnlumpsnstuff · 02/01/2017 14:18

Thanks mini I will be watching him closely as I did get the impression they were letting him go more because they were really busy and had no beds rather than he is ok. I'm ignoring his comments as he would normally have a limb drop off than head to hospital and he still looks crap.

What?! He hasn't seen a doctor?

Who reviewed the bloods?

MountainPeaks · 02/01/2017 14:19

And more importantly who reviewed the ECG?

Reality16 · 02/01/2017 14:29

I don't know now if this has been picked up on and I have missed it but I can't believe 111 never sent an ambulance!

I'm glad he has been seen, but I agree with the slight concerns PP's have mentioned re not seeing a doctor. He should have seen a doctor. If he has a cardiologist referral then they obviously think something is wrong with his heart?

Ehlana · 02/01/2017 15:03

Also amazed 111 didn't send an ambulance, if anything they are over cautious when chest pain is reported.

Keep an eye on him OP, am amazed they've discharged him if he looks like crap, still has symptoms and hasn't seen a doctor. 999 without hesitation if you think it's needed!

Miserylovescompany2 · 02/01/2017 15:18

I'm assuming a doctor must of overseen this? Yes, don't even hesitate to ring 999 if his condition deteriorates. They (hospital) obviously picked up something, as your DH has left with a referral.

Flumpsnlumpsnstuff · 02/01/2017 15:37

I have to say I agree with all of you as I thought he'd at least see a dr but I'm guessing they know more than I do, he's sleeping ATM and says pain is same the nurse did say his arm may be more muscular pain ? So I gave him some ibuprofen when we got in

wasting nhs resources

Gosh, you and your dh have a funny idea of what doctors and hospitals exist for.

Olympiathequeen · 02/01/2017 15:49

Not a waste of time if he needs to see a cardiologist! They don't tell people to see them for no reason. Maybe something minimal on ecg that just needs a follow up and maybe some health advice.

A&e is awful on long bank holiday breaks because of all the GPS being closed.

ophiotaurus · 02/01/2017 20:16

How is he now op?

Flumpsnlumpsnstuff · 02/01/2017 20:43

He seems be ok, I spoke to his brother who thinks he may be starting with angina so keeping an eye on him. He seems to think the dr said he's pulled a muscle in his chest Confused---- at no point did the doctor say that !
So I see a fight coming when cardiologist appointment comes through. I really have been kept sane by you all today thank you so much I promise to update after the cardio appointment. Now I'm off for a cup of tea in case I have to drive

OP posts:
rainbowstardrops · 02/01/2017 21:01

Mmm, I'm not sure I'd be happy with that .Flump.
Has your DH actually been doing anything particularly strenuous in order to 'over do it' or pull a muscle???
It could very well be nothing in particular but he also needs to acknowledge that it could potentially be something important and to listen to your concerns.
Hope it all calms down soon

Flumpsnlumpsnstuff · 02/01/2017 21:03

Not sure where the strike through happened ? Sorry I'm a little tired.

OP posts:
flumpsnlumpsnstuff · 15/01/2017 19:41

Just to update as I hate not knowing the ending.
Dh went the Drs Tuesday and dr called the cardiovascular unit as from what he could see dh has had some kind of cardio incident, they are overwhelmed but have arranged to see him the beginning of Feb. In the meantime he has a thing to keep tabs on his heart and a spray to use as well as a very long list to call an ambulance if any of them occur. It's not bad news as such and that is what I'm telling myself so we will wait and see thanks for all the hand holding and support there are times mn is indispensable.

OP posts:
RandomMess · 15/01/2017 20:37

I'm not surprised at your update.

The good news is that he knows to take ANYTHING else very seriously, the first incidence is often a warning.

Hope things are resolved at his next appointment in terms of proactive treatment etc.
