Is it unreasonable to ask DH to stop saying he is full or tired

I think he just says it for something to say but while I'm not saying it's the worst thing in the world it's really really irritating.

Today there was a roast veg thing for lunch and he ate it followed by pudding.
"Ohhh I'm so full ... Oh I'm STUFFED ... Oh I couldn't eat another bite ... I'm so full."

I said tersely in the end "you know no one held you down at gunpoint and made you eat it!"

Then the I'm tired starts, I'm tired, I'm so tired, I'm exhausted.

He says I say I am tired and I do but in response to something, like if he wants to to something I might say I am tired but I don't just walk around announcing I am tired!

AIBU? I don't know why it annoys me so much!

Maybe he's just saying it to himself and ypoure in earshot?

I dunno, its his home, he should be free to say what he wants without fear of being snapped at tersely.

Probably Sruffy! I think he does sort of expect a response even if it's only "mmmm".

cherrycrumblecustard · 01/01/2017 20:54

That too euphemia!!

OP posts:
nethunsreject · 01/01/2017 20:55

That would annoy me. It's like taking up space, the aural equivalent of manspreading.

ScruffyTheJanitor · 01/01/2017 20:56

Hoiw often and what topics do you cover in conversation?
Maybe he's trying to fill a silent void?

Sounds like one or both of you are ready to get back to work Grin

cherrycrumblecustard · 01/01/2017 21:02

Poor DH lol I am being very unreasonable Blush

It still annoys me!

swizzlestar · 01/01/2017 21:02

My dh does this too. If he's not tired then he's moaning about various aches and pains.

After 10 days of no work enforced time apart, I'm on the edge....

gamerwidow · 01/01/2017 21:02

My mum does this. She just witters on constantly about NOTHING just for something to say. It's ok not to talk sometimes. I don't need to know every thought that passes through her head. It drives me mad because it's just nonsense but she would say it's just chitchat and i'm rude. Not sure who is in the right but I know how annoying it is Grin

cherrycrumblecustard · 01/01/2017 21:03

Shit is retirement going to be filled with DHs annoying habits?

He is also obsessed with the bins, when they are being emptied, at what time, how terrible it would be if they were not.

Soubriquet · 01/01/2017 21:04

I'm glad you see you're unreasonable

I'm sat here with this look Confused

But I suppose it's probably a bit of cabin fever

oldlaundbooth · 01/01/2017 21:05

Cabin fever for sure.

Excited101 · 01/01/2017 21:05

This is DSis all over- 'I'm so bloated', 'ugh, I'm so uncomfortable', 'I'm so tired, I didn't sleep last night' and repeat...

Excited101 · 01/01/2017 21:06

I think it's really just for attention

cherrycrumblecustard · 01/01/2017 21:09

Excited god she sounds made for DH!

Yes. I'd be lying if I said this wasn't one of the reasons I'm planning on leaving my DH Grin

MagicChanges · 01/01/2017 21:14

My ex and his need to talk about stuff that SO doesn't matter drove me to insanity.
like, Christmas day he was round to see the children and he starts asking me questions (whilst I'm doing dinner) and DD's birthday and what we are doing. Which would be fine, but her birthday is in fucking August. He has no sense of appropriate time and place.
He also likes to tell me things I already know. repeatedly. and that is why I don't live with him anymore. Grin

GreatFuckability · 01/01/2017 21:39

Hecate I think you are my new hero.

cherrycrumblecustard · 01/01/2017 21:42

DH reads boring books and tries to get me to read them, I point out there's no point as he's already told me the plot. Hecate you win with the clouds though!
