Just because it's raining...

Disclaimer - I'm child free and trying to nap this afternoon.

I live in a block of flats and there are some kids playing in the communal hall area outside my door. Which usually I wouldn't mind, but they're being SO loud. Shouting and screaming and bouncing balls on the walls.

WIBU to poke my head out of my door and ask them nicely to play more quietly?

Feel I may have lost perspective with the hangover!

It's a communal hall, not a play area.

You can ask. You might get a favourable response... or not.

Not unreasonable to ask them to keep it down. It's crap having children stuck inside but they shouldn't be shouting and bouncing balls in the corridor. Fair enough to play quietly in the corridor but shouting isn't on.

If they carry on after being asked then I'd tell them to keep it down and/or speak to their parents if you know which flat they live in.

YANBU. So long as the youths in question are not intimidating in any way then yes, I would politely ask them to keep the noise down.

Thanks all. I asked them very nicely, they were young and said sorry and they'd play more quietly, v nice children! Nap can recommence... :-)
