Smell it. I'd eat it if it wasn't furry it smelt Wink

kitnkaboodle · 30/12/2016 20:19

It'll be fine if it smells ok

lapsedorienteerer · 30/12/2016 20:20

Absolutely fine.

SillyBub · 30/12/2016 20:21

I've just eaten 5 day old pate and I'm still alive. DH is about to eat 5 day old cheesecake that I won't touch as it's been open too long Xmas Hmm. He'll probably survive too.

fessmess · 30/12/2016 20:34

Ah ok. If I die I'll blame you lot Grin

I always cut a sliver off on the edge that isn't pink anymore if that makes sense. If it is new and pink looking and smells ok then I will eat it and I am a fairly cautious sort Xmas Grin.

CommunionHelp · 30/12/2016 20:36

I'd give hard cash for 5 day old pate right now.

Hellofromtheotherside16 · 31/12/2016 05:08

I ate pate once that had been left out of the fridge and I was very ill. So I wouldn't.

Tangfastics · 31/12/2016 05:12

Hello

Out of the fridge is just a moment of crazy though surely?

Op, if yours has been refrigerated I'd cut the end off and give it a sniff as advised by pp's then I'd go for it

BarbaraofSeville · 31/12/2016 06:03

Eat within 2 days of opening is to account for defective fridges and to encourage people to waste perfectly good food. Ignore and use your nose and eyes. I would almost certainly eat it.

DodoRevival · 31/12/2016 06:05

In my experience pate looks and smells off if it is.

BreatheDeep · 31/12/2016 06:14

It's probably OK as it's been in the fridge. But one of the risks with pate is Listeria which doesn't smell or affect appearance so I wouldn't think it is OK based on either of those.
