We are in New Hampshire, outside its a blizzard, 2-3" of snow per hour. 50mph gusts and -15 windchill. My 16 year old DS has been wanting a ATV (normal for kids over here)

We live in the middle of nowhere (25 miles to the corner shop) 4miles to the nearest tarmac road. I told him he can have one only once he has learned to repair it in the worst possible conditions.....because that's when shit happens.

Soo we have just spent the last hour outside in the snow storm changing tires and spark plugs.

Was I too harsh?

Makes perfect sense.

I spent some time in Salt Lake City and it could get quite snowy there. Any trips into the mountains or over to Park City and life could get interesting; we broke down one night, so totally understand the need to be able to fix irrespective of the conditions.
