To be terrified by the Baba Vanga prophecies

Hello all,

I was randomly looking on the web a few days ago and came across the baba vanga prophecies. The bit about a war in the middle east turning into WWIII and the use of weapons in Europe terrifies me. I would usually dismiss this kind of stuff, but she has predicted many other things correctly in the past. AIBU to consider moving my family to Australasia on the basis of these terrifying predictions?

#Venusishabitable. Make Venus great again. Venus global warming is an elite conspiracy. It would make a great resort.

Anyway... looks into starting a prophecy website and add a few selected predictions.
I predicted the US wouldn't bomb Baghdad at the very end of the ultimatum, but the next night. And that it would all turn to shit.
I can see things...

We can all dream. NASA has considered space lifts. :)

But neither will happen in the next 10 to 20 years.

laylabelle · 29/12/2016 18:52

Do love how the prediction tend to be so vague then years on something happens and someone makes a link somehow..like Nostradamus his could fit into so many events..

War in middle east hardly anything new!

Lweji · 29/12/2016 18:54

AIBU to be terrified by the Baba Lweji prophecies?

Yes.
I predict wars, earthquakes, big storms, tsunamis and volcanos.
Also... global warming.

And a pocket device that can sequence your genome. oh, wait that already exists.

Sybys · 29/12/2016 18:55

Awh, just having them float around in the atmosphere is cheating. I wanted to see people soup.

Still...The odds of anything like that happening in the next decade or so must be 0 or thereabouts.

And the risk/cost/reward ratio of any mission to Venus is pretty off-putting.

SnipSnipMrBurgess · 29/12/2016 19:00

Hang on, so she knew the words "manned spaceship to venus" but not plane. Because she was blind.

Confused
RaspberryOverloadTheFirst · 29/12/2016 19:02

I wouldn't give these predictions any credance, any more than the last hoo-ha over the Mayan "prophecies" that supposedly predicted the end of the world in December 2012.

i recall one poor woman riddled with anxiety who posted on here just before the day the world was supposed to end, clearly panicking about it. I really hate those who peddle this sort of thing, they have no understanding how it can affect people like this.

And, in the case of Baba Vanga, it looks like her "prophecies" are all over the web, but there is no actual definitive confirmation she actually said or predicted these things. There are too many "maybes" and ambiguous wording for it to be real.

HomeIsWhereTheGinisNow · 29/12/2016 19:06

Sybys I believe! I believe!

Lweji · 29/12/2016 19:14

I was looking at the website with her name, and they mention there a certain Vrabka Orbetzova, but what they list as her CV I can't find anywhere than the BV website. Hmm

It's a typical scam website.

Lweji · 29/12/2016 19:35

The Simpsons' prophecies, though...

mimishimmi · 29/12/2016 19:38

I don't think Australia is immune to the fallout of international machinations ...

JacquettaW · 29/12/2016 19:45

Unless this person has made specific predictions naming names, exact events and places, they're just another Nostradamus. I could sit here and make some extremely vague prediction that could have any number of interpretations and someone in the future will say 'Oh look, Jacquetta predicted all of this'

Madshiplollipop · 29/12/2016 19:46

It's bollocks. Just live.

Madshiplollipop · 29/12/2016 19:50

I predicted the Torres would win the last election. Obviously everything I say is profound, life changing and altogether wonderful. Stop being hooked in by total bullshit.

SarcasmMode · 29/12/2016 20:02

YABU.

If WW3 starts the world will be a shit place.

Move near London so you'll get blasted and you won't have to deal with the aftermath.

This is from an anxiety ridden person.

You can't control what happens - but you can control what you will do in such a case.

There have been many predictions by many of people. Most are wrong, some are right. We remember the right and ignore the wrong. We want to believe us humans are more than mere animal.

SarcasmMode · 29/12/2016 20:10

Plus Australia has killer spiders.

I like spiders but poisonous ONS?

Nopenopenopenopenope.

SarcasmMode · 29/12/2016 20:11

Ones!

Although ONS can be poisonous, too.

Redglitter · 29/12/2016 20:17

I bet if we started a predictions thread on here and people looked at it in 50 years there would be loads of 'predictions' that could be tied in to events which had happened in the period. Then you'd have another forum marvelling at the amazing mumsnetters who had special powers.

I bet for every one of her predictions that can be tentatively tied to events there's a dozen that mean nothing

InAFuckingTutu · 29/12/2016 20:21

Could I suggest if you really want to scare yourself read about climate change. ...

Iwasjustabouttosaythat · 29/12/2016 20:21

Aw, OP, YABVU. If a person spews out enough random rubbish they will hit on a few things that turn out to be true. Especially if they use vague language that could be applied to a million different situations. She was a fraud. And if what she said was true Australia is about to become a third world country under China (because racist) so I really don't think you should move your family there. Maybe move them to China? Are there any Muslims there? Because racist. But those muslims are doing pretty well populating and running Europe as it's a wasteland where no animals even live. This could be because racist. Just wait til they get their hands on Venus. The average temp is 462C but they're used to hot places. Grin

ComputerUserNumptyTwit · 29/12/2016 23:11

I can't believe long The Simpsons has been going for Shock

I was an adult when it started, and I'm definitely middle aged now, so it shouldn't have come as a surprise really Confused

MiscellaneousAssortment · 29/12/2016 23:14

The world is a scary place right now. But it's scary without con artists peddling lies and hype.
