What constitutes a deep clean?

My Mum's tenant has moved out and I have lined up a new tenant for her. I arranged for an 'End of Tenancy Deep Clean." AIBU to expect that light switches, kitchen cupboards inside and out should be included. Normally I would have expected the last tenant to have cleaned up after themselves but I was so glad to be shot of them that I handed back the deposit and got a cleaner in. I am really disappointed in the standard of work but not sure what other people would have expected for their money.

Last rented place we moved out of we were given a list by the EA to follow. We cleaned everything, including oven, oven hood and put in new filter, defrosted freezer, kitchen and bathroom air vents, carpets, inside and top of every cupboard, washed windows, laundered curtains, cleared moss and weeds, new bulbs fitted. You name it, we did it. We even painted the hallway and small toilet. It was actually cleaner and fresher than when we moved into it. I even hosed out the bins! That's what I would call a deep clean.

How much did they charge and how big is the house?

For a deep clean, I would expect the light switches to have been cleaned with the skirting boards; and the kitchen cupboards to be cleaned inside and out.

A deep clean should have included the cupboards and light switches.

How did they price up the job?

Kitchen cupboards cleaned inside and out, skirting boards cleaned, oven cleaned, bathroom good scrub including tiles. All floors cleaned, light switches, ceiling lamps dusted if needed. Windows inside and out but would expect to pay separately for this possibly.

That is what I arranged and paid for when I last moved out of a rental when in between purchases (about 4 years ago). Was advertised as an "end of rental deep clean". 3 bed house, team of 4 people took 3 or so hours iirc. House was empty of furniture and reasonably clean.

I remembering agreeing a list of jobs beforehand, paying a deposit and then the remainder when they were finished.

Agree with PPs, light switches, skirting boards and cupboards should definitely have been included. I'd take photos, email to the company and ask for a refund.

It is a small one bedroom flat and cost £90. There was no oven cleaning or carpet cleaning involved as the oven was the tenants and we were doing the carpets. It didn't include the stairs up to the flat so one bedroom, bathroom, hall and lounge. I sent over photos to the company and they priced it up from those but 3 other quotes were for the same amount. They said the tenants had left sellotape on some of the UPVC window frames so they hadn't been able to remove the sticky patches which although I found slightly irritating, I was prepared to accept. What I was complaining about was ordinary dirt like fingerprints on the sockets being left behind. The inside of the kitchen cupboards hadn't been touched by the look of it.
