how her field is superior to other fields?

She also namedrops people who are supposedly big names in the organisation she works at. To be fair, she works in a well-respected international organisation.

I normally just bite my tongue and change the subject. Sometimes I have the urge to answer back, but I always figured it's not worth it.

What would you do?

Does she have the surname Creighton-Ward?

missyB1 · 27/12/2016 20:39

I know someone like that.

The sad thing is that I do meet people who work with them and they think they're rather a twit too. They think everyone else is constantly in awe of their superiority.

mimishimmi · 27/12/2016 21:53

Ask her if a bit of their glory rubs off .... Grin

Trills · 27/12/2016 21:56

Is there a good reason why you have to be near this person when they are talking?

OutDamnedWind · 27/12/2016 21:56

Lots of vague smiles and 'how lovely'.

AteRiri · 27/12/2016 21:59

She's a friend from high school. Everytime we talk, the conversation steers towards how her field is so superior, what this and that people did, most of the times as humblebrag - complaining but really just to rattle off the greatness of her field, her organisation, her colleagues, etc.

Eg. "The director gave just $xx for xmas gift to the cleaners. Do you know how much he earns? $xxxxxx per month!"

You don't sound as if you like her, so really she's an acquaintance from high-school, or perhaps an ex-friend.

You probably don't have any obligation to see her or hear her any more. YOu could just stop.
