I've name changed as I'm a regular and this is a work related question and I don't want it linked to my usual account.

I work at a Hotel and what with the Christmas break was the most senior person there yesterday and will be this afternoon and evening. I don't know what decision to make!

A customer reserved a room to arrive today and I noticed yesterday they have put a comment on the booking to say they are bringing their dog. We don't accept dogs except service pets. They booked through a travel agent/Web site rather than direct. I have been off prior to yesterday so not sure if others have seen the note or not. There's nothing in the booking to show that anyone has tried to get in touch with the guest.

I messaged them through the site they booked (a from hotel message not a personal one!), and highlighted where it says on their confirmation that pets are not allowed.

I have no other way of communicating with them. As of yet we have had no response.

What do I do?

  1. message again, not knowing if they will see it?
  2. if they turn up with the dog turn them away?
  3. if they turn up with the dog let them just keep the dog in their room?

They've pre paid and booked a month ago so it's pretty crap that none of us have seen the note before now, but it is well hidden in amongst all the other data on their booking.

What do I do??

Maybe they are no showing and got the message?!

Blondeshavemorefun · 27/12/2016 20:06

So the manager has agreed for dog to be allowed to stay if not a service dog ..,,,,,

Somersetlady · 27/12/2016 20:19

Was all dressed up to go out for dinner. Baby has temperature so now shamelessly marking my place to see if the dog shows up as it will now be the most interesting thing for me this evening!

MissVictoria · 27/12/2016 20:20

I have never even heard of hotels that allow pets?! I assumed dogs for the blind would get an exception like they do to go in shops but i thought everywhere was a blanket ban on bringing none essential service dogs. I will certainly be checking if i ever stay in hotel it's not a dog friendly one, i don't want to be in a room a dog has previously been in, potentially all over the beds, thats not sanitary imo, hotel beds are grim at the best off times.

DollyPlastic · 27/12/2016 20:25

I wouldn't like to stay in a hotel room that a dog has been in.

onedayimightforget · 27/12/2016 20:34

Just a thought, have you considered phoning them?Wink

TheOtherGalen · 27/12/2016 20:35

I'm not refreshing this page every ten minutes because I have no life, so don't even think that.

OneMoreStepAroundTheBendIGo · 27/12/2016 20:36

Am I the only one who's worried that the lack of updates from OP is because she's been eaten by a hungry hound?

Keremy · 27/12/2016 20:38

Quite a few hotels take dogs Missvictoria. All Travelodges do and from memory quite a few of the very high star posh ones do because the celebs/rich don't want to leave theirs behind.

Kirstyinnorway · 27/12/2016 20:40

shameless place marking. And hoping for a Great Dane.

Yellowbird54321 · 27/12/2016 20:41

Love that a bunch of random people on the internet (and I'm now one of them) are waiting to discover what breed of dog is checking into a hotel somewhere in the UK Grin
I also want to know the name of the dog along with a description of the owner too now!

5BlueHydrangea · 27/12/2016 20:42

Chihuahua stuffed in her bra... Customers not OP!

5BlueHydrangea · 27/12/2016 20:42

Dog is called Sparkles. Maybe!!

FutureMrsRanj · 27/12/2016 20:43

Oh I thought we'd know by now. Best this comment serves as a placemark then, eh?

myoriginal3 · 27/12/2016 20:45

Dhound weighs one kilo and is called goliath.

myoriginal3 · 27/12/2016 20:46

Or else he is a st. Bernard called Tiny.

zoobaby · 27/12/2016 20:46

Oh no quandry. I hope it isn't a case of them receiving the last minute message about the dog, cracking the shits big time, gone elsewhere, and now there's an even bigger storm brewing. Good luck.

thatsnotmyusername · 27/12/2016 20:47

Ahhh I keep checking for updates!

Keremy · 27/12/2016 20:51

Surely they would have checked in by now? Is out only for one night? Do they lose money off they don't turn up? I bet they've got the message and aren't coming. Hopefully not panicking to fuck about where they are going to sleep tonight :(

Keremy · 27/12/2016 20:52

Still no sign. I've done one bloody check in since my last update. Boo.

I was telling another employee about it, she's been here decades, and apparently someone tried to sneak their horse into their bedroom! Someone reported a horse with its owner trying to climb the stairs to the first floor.

How the fuck they got it past reception is anyone's guess. Mind you could smoke indoors in those days so they probably couldn't see through the smog.

redpriestandmozart · 27/12/2016 20:54

I think this person will have a guide dog and is just used to adding to the booking that she has a dog which is why she has ignored the 'no pets' rule.

Yellowbird54321 · 27/12/2016 20:55

I'm predicting an elderly whippet, name of Harold, resplendent in winter tweed jacket.
