To expect her to pay for my flight

I had plastic surgery in another country (please dont judge me its my body and my money) this year and everything went well. My cousin has decided she will like the same procedure and asked me to go with her which I said yes.
She had not yet mentioned about paying for my flight because I would assume this is standard considering I have no business being abroad and flying is not free.
So considering the date is getting closer I said to her are you going to pay for my flight and she said no she thought I was just coming because I was meant to get something else but I decided I did not want to anymore.

The flight is around £550 plus accommodation which will be around another £200.

aibu expecting her to pay if she wants me to come and look after her?

Obviously we need to know what the surgery is...

If she didn't say she was laying why would you assume she would?

Because OP would be going purely to do her a favour? Why should OP shell out a lot of money for a trip she would never have undertaken but for being asked to do this favour?

Wifeofbath you missed the bit where she says her friend said that though.

I'm assuming the op had one surgery and was going to get a second, so maybe a gastric band followed eventually by a tummy tuck but the second was never actually arranged?

And unless her friend and her planned it around both surgery dates the friend made a huge assumption.

That's the way I read it. Op needs to clarify
