My mother won't let me pretend Father Christmas is real for my 9yo

I've just been roundly laughed at, ridiculed and outwardly been eye rolling and complaining about the fact that I'm trying to make sure my 9yo, nearly 10yo, enjoys her last Christmas believing in FC. My dd has been talking all year about footprints (in flour) on Christmas Eve and my dm has forbidden it this year. A slight sprinkling of flour that means fuck all to them and the world to me and my dd.

If it's your house, so whatever you want. Santa Claus doesn't leave footprints at my house, though. It's possible to believe without flour footprints. How do you explain the flour getting spilled on the floor?

Tell her it will be your way, be firm, and warn her that u will be furious if she messes with ur daughter's belief in any way. Ur your DDs mum, and ur in charge, ur mother is overstepping the mark!

I think flour footprints would make my 10 year old think he isn't real. There's no snow, and she knows the difference between snow and flour anyway! She's very excited but also seems more dubious this year...

I just did footprints for dss for the first time and an ridiculously excited... and he's 12

He knows that Santa isn't real but likes the idea of two sets of presents

I recommend the Neutradol Christmas Pine set with a footprint template from Poundland!

We've never done the footprints but if you want to then you do it. They don't believe for long enough

Your house, your rules. Keep the Santa thing going if you want to and ignore her.

My kids are grown up and only the youngest is still at home but Santa still has time to throw a few presents down our chimney.

Use shake n vac- dual purpose! That was my thinking anyway

Do a soot footprint instead, more believable.(unless it's a carpet floor)

It's their house so unfortunately you have to suck it up.

Can't imagine your 9 year old believes anyway, or Just for you. 9 hear olds know large mammals can't fly, understand about space and time, ie delivering to the whole world in one night, and also know that toys come from toy shops.
So shell probably be ok with no flour footprints.
