Ugh flashbacks to my dad trying to get us to eat grilled banana wrapped in bacon with cheese as a kid. Boak. I have a severe banana phobia as an adult (I'm not kidding, it's an actual phobia) and I'm fairly sure this is why.

I used to like ham and banana sandwiches, but I made some for work the night before and the result black sliminess put me off for life.

That's exactly what I thought when watching the advert! I thought it was some advert for a comedy show, not a genuine dessert.

Bacon and banana toastie is delicious. Don't think I would want that combo in a trifle though

Sadly don't have a Waitrose where we live but did pick up some of his mulled cider last year & even our teen DS refused it!
The trifle sounds utterly vile,trifle is trifle fgs & needs no experimenting with end of!
It's the kind of thing I could see the Camerons or similar having whilst chillaxing .
I think that they did themselves no favours allowing Delia to part company with them!

i do like sweet/savoury stuff but not sure about this

I tried it and like it. Not massively keen on the texture of the bacon crumbles but the taste of the sweet and salt is delicious.
