To get everyone more presents?

deliciousMOISTturkey · 24/12/2016 08:29

I feel the need to get just one more lovely nice thing for everyone.
I've also been paid rather a lot more than I was expecting.
And it's Christmas Eve and I have to work tomorrow and I want to.

So. What shall I get them? DDs. (18 and 20) And DH

What do they like?

gamerchick · 24/12/2016 08:30

Its the twitch, you honestly don't need to. The feeling passes.

Nameforsaken · 24/12/2016 08:30

I think only you can answer that question

If you want to, then do it. We have no idea what sort of thing your family likes so probably best you choose Smile

SestraClone · 24/12/2016 08:37

Yes, tickets to a show/concert!

reallybadidea · 24/12/2016 08:41

Why have you been paid more than you expected? What if it's a mistake and you've been overpaid?

HolidaySpiritsReinbeerAndWhine · 24/12/2016 08:48

I'd also be careful of accidental overpayment, or perhaps it's to cover some of January and you could fall short next month?

I agree with others, if you 'must', buy something to make January seem less bleak. Even if it's just a new telly and cosy jumpers all around.

GreenTureen · 24/12/2016 08:50

I'd go with tickets or an event too, for everyone jointly - a concert/play/spa afternoon/theme park depending on what you all like.

maras2 · 24/12/2016 08:51

At that age just give them the cash.

Tinkletwinkle · 24/12/2016 08:54

Definitely get them all kittens.

pasturesgreen · 24/12/2016 08:56

I'd go for it, if you want to! It's a lovely thought.

I too would go for tickets to an event/show or a day trip somewhere you all want to go to relieve the monotony of January.

Lilaclily · 24/12/2016 08:56

oldmum22 · 24/12/2016 09:00

Groupon is your friend

Millipedewithherfeetup · 24/12/2016 09:01

Depending on how much you want to spend... but have a look on easy jet or ryan air and book flights for a weekend away ?

TheTartOfAsgard · 24/12/2016 09:01

This was me yesterday, all because I had wrapping paper left over Blush

I bought dd13 and ds11 a coat and pair of boots each, more pjs and some clothes, never done clothes as xmas gifts before so hoping they don't do this Hmm face at them.

Got dp some more Lego and slippers. No wrapping paper left now and I'm refusing to go out today so that will have to do.

Pygmy goats?

blueskyinmarch · 24/12/2016 09:36

My DD’s are 19 and 24. We actually don’t really buy much for them for Christmas as they like to buy for each other and do their stockings etc. They started doing this 2 years ago and it has become a thing they do.

We always get them something they aren’t expecting but this year i was struggling. DH got them both rugby shirts which they will like but other than that nothing. That is until last night when DD1 booked tickets for her and DD2 to go see a show in London for DD2s birthday. I think we will now give them money to pay for a meal before hand. Probably £100 between them.

Could you tell your DD’s that they can choose a show or gig sometime during the year and you will pay for tickets? Or give them money to buy clothes in the sales? Or buy them flights to somewhere they want to visit. We did flights to Florence for ours last year as it was somewhere they wanted to visit?

HoldMeCloserTonyDanza · 24/12/2016 10:02

Tickets to something for all 4 of you! Sport, theatre, whatever you'd all enjou

deliciousMOISTturkey · 24/12/2016 10:16

Tickets is good. And a goat. Where would one purchase a goat on Christmas Eve?
