I've just bought the festive radio times. Got it home and realised it doesn't actually cover the new year!!!! ShockShock AIBU to assume the two week special would cover the whole festive period?

First Brexit, then Trump, and now this. 2016 has been a bad year.

DarthMother · 23/12/2016 22:45

YANBU. I also assumed it would cover NYE and when I was looking through it and realised it didn't I told Mr Darth who had to check as he thought it surely must. Gits have done it to sell the next issue I reckon.

Ameliablue · 23/12/2016 22:54

It's always been the same. It runs from a set day for a week but at Christmas covers two weeks. This may or may not include new year.

My dad used to ring his wanted tv viewing in blue biro and my mum with tick her programmes in black or red ink.
There would be murder in the house when they clashed!
Before VCR..

I went for the £1 copy as well this year. £4.50 is a bloody nice trifle!
Looks like I made the right choice

DesolateWaist · 24/12/2016 07:47

I like the idea of trifle being the unit of comparison now.
I'd like it used on the news:
'His debts amounted to £600,000, the equivalent of 133,333 really nice trifles.'

PberryT · 24/12/2016 07:49

It's to do with the release of TV schedules. To include new year, the book wouldn't have started til Xmas day. I listened to a very interesting show on r4 about it!

user1471545174 · 24/12/2016 07:54

I spotted it this year when I went to buy annual Radio Times! TV Times is the same. Not buying either of them ever again, double Christmas and New Year edition or nothing!

OwlinaTree · 24/12/2016 07:56

I love trifle too. I'm now even more disappointed as I could have been eating really nice trifle instead of setting up the box to record stuff I will delete in about August.

We all used to mark what we wanted to watch in different coloured pens. If there was a clash we'd bicker and squabble about it for so long that we'd miss the programmes - it was all part of the season of goodwill and cheer.

OwlinaTree · 24/12/2016 08:00

Lol, that sounds familiar hassled!
