To think the trifle looks awful and a waste of time

I'd rather just eat a Swiss roll and chocolate. Why don't lidl sponsor anything but junk food? no one needs more help to eat more shit.

YABVU. Trifle is awesome. No one is making you eat or make it and your favoured alternative of Swiss Roll and chocolate isn't exactly health food either.

Merry Christmas Smile

HolidaySpiritsReinbeerAndWhine · 22/12/2016 14:16

That looks so good. I wish there was a Lidl near us Sad. I don't like 'usual' trifle, it's full of icky stuff, like fruit.

HolidaySpiritsReinbeerAndWhine · 22/12/2016 14:18

Ah, just realised they're not selling it. Urgh, making stuff, effort Grin.

ProfYaffle · 22/12/2016 14:19

The Heston Waitrose trifle doesn't look appealing either. The bacon and the squelching noise the spoon makes - ugh.

HighDataUsage · 22/12/2016 14:20

I'm making ginger bread trifle using this recipe but I'm not making the custard from scratch.

What's wrong with it? Xmas Shock It's beautiful! I'd eat it all.

honeylulu · 22/12/2016 14:24

Trifle is bleurrgh!!! Soggy cake, just yuk!

I'm doing this one in an effort to use up all the blackberries still in the freezer!

jdoe8 · 22/12/2016 14:36

Bacon trifle? if its as good as that whole orange one, ill save my money!

Soggy cake crumbs and snotty jelly .... I have never understood them.

FurryLittleTwerp · 22/12/2016 14:48

Yuck I hate trifle

Well nearly all trifle - I ate a ginger cake & mango trifle once that a friend made & it was quite edible.

The secret? No Jelly - so much nicer.

Still not nice enough to want to eat it again though.

Looks like fancy vomit in a bowl with sprinkles - bleeurgh

JDSTER · 22/12/2016 14:49

I make trifle every Boxing Day. No Jelly! That's for kids. The cake is soggy with sherry mmmmmm...
There would be uproar if I didnt make it Xmas Grin

You're full of Christmas cheer, aren't you?

If you don't like the look of the trifle, don't eat it. Nobody's going to force-feed it to you as if they're fattening you up for foie-gras.

stopfuckingshoutingatme · 22/12/2016 14:53

that's a fucking shit trifle . Yanbu

chocolate custard? boak

and she doesn't even show how to make it, and where is the sherry?

and only people with a lot of space can have those dishes

yanbu x 1000000

ProfYaffle · 22/12/2016 15:00

Yup - bacon trifle

I like trifle. I like bacon. I like Heston. I like experimenting with new food.

This, however, just looks like a hot mess.

Pinkheart5915 · 22/12/2016 15:02

I don't think it looks too bad.
I only like trifle when there is no jelly involved.

My version is chcolcate brownie, banana, double cream whipped with lots of baileys in it and grated chocolate on top. It's a hit every year

Sparlklesilverglitter · 22/12/2016 15:05

Trifle isn't my favourite but I will eat it as long as nobody has put jelly in it.

I don't think it looks too bad and let's face it most people eat a fair bit of crap at Christmas which is no doubt while Lidl is sponsoring it

TheDogsMother · 22/12/2016 15:11

Trifle is the work of Satan. All of the worst things - cold jelly, cold custard and soggy sponge.

MerylPeril · 22/12/2016 15:15

I have been to Marks to get my strawberry trifle - I would quite happily sit in bed and eat the lot.

diddl · 22/12/2016 15:17

YANBU.

I like trifle, but chocolate swiss roll with "cream" in, chocolate custard, cream-yuck, yuck yuck!

RubyGoat · 22/12/2016 15:20

Nonononono. It's not a proper kids trifle as no jelly, & insufficient fruit. Nor is it a proper adult trifle as no sherry (or suitable alternative if you prefer). The wrongness of it all is just staggering.

Noneedforasitter · 22/12/2016 15:22

It looked great until she added the orange segments.

RubyGoat · 22/12/2016 15:22

Oh yes, and don't even get me started on the wrongs of long-life "cake" with so-called "cream" in it.

glamorousgrandmother · 22/12/2016 15:34

I'm making this but the gingerbread men my grandchildren have decorated are a bit more eccentric than that.
