To think this is just a tiny bit creepy

Don't get me wrong, I've still got the umbilical cord from dd (my first born) Blush ds's went straight in the bin

But a box for every single tooth your child loses, the umbilical cord and the lanugo?!

That's a bit creepy isn't it?

I would be Hmm if my mum gave me that

Slightly unrelated, but MIL found her DCs first teeth in the attic a few months ago, in a box with other various baby bits.
The teeth were sellotaped to bits of paper. One was still bloody 😷

Apparently it's the fine hair the baby is born with.

Urgh, just googled lanugo. Very strange. Also keeping your first babies umbilical cord is vom. Was your second baby not as important as your first Grin

Well I don't understand the cord or the lanugo but I did keep their baby teeth in little tiny boxes. Found them in my dressing table drawer when we moved after 20+ years. And obviously threw them away, wondering why I'd kept them.

Funnily enough, I bonded better with my second born then I did my first born...but ds's fell in his pooey nappy so I binned it.

I will bin Dd's too...I'm more mature sensible now. Just haven't got round to it

I've never seen lanugo on any of my babies. And the cord stump would stink...

I have my daughter's baby teeth in a box and have no idea why! I think it would freak her out if I showed her. And then I'd have to explain to my son why I didn't keep his...

I kept my eldest teeth, but she made me bin them.

My younger two never found all of theirs after losing them, so I wouldn't have had a complete set.

I think, if when asked by my eldest, what I'd kept them for, I hadn't of replied "to do Voodoo on you when your a teen", she mightn't of freaked out and made me throw them away, right there and then.

My mum kept all my baby teeth, it never occurred to me that it was weird (until I had my DD & thought about it from my own POV). And the lanugo - DD never really lost hers. Certainly not all at once - she was born witha full head of hair & maintained a reasonable head of hair all the way through babyhood. I thought that was normal, do most babies lose it then?

As the for umbilical cord - didn't it smell?

It's all very well having a little hole for each and every tooth, but what about the one that gets swallowed by accident? Do you have to retrieve it?

The thought of keeping bits of umbilical cord for decades just made me get that sick taste in my mouth. Who would you show it to? When would you want to look at it again?!!

I have all of DDs teeth in the envelopes addressed to the toothfairy Smile. Couldn't imagine throwing them away ever, but I guess they'll just be sat in a memory box.

Whilst I agree that it is creepy, what bothered me the most is that the incisors are on the side of the wooden head and not the front. It's just plain wrong. Obviously the other set of incisors (the top ones in my mind) would end up at the back but that seems more fitting.

But yes, it's creepy. I throw all of my DCs teeth away immediately!

But why? I mean I do get it. I think I did keep PFB DS1's teeth for a while but then thought "WTF am I doing??" It may have helped that my mother gave me the ones she'd kept of mine that tipped me over back over the edge into sanity.

DD used to furry little pointy werewolf ears. They are now no longer furry or pointy. Which is probably good for her given she's 10 but I do wish they still had the point at the top!
