It's delicious... especially with brandy butter and cream.
Dont get ne wrong... I live all the alternatives like trifle, oavlova and chocolate log but you cannot beat Christmas pud.
This year im going to make Mary Berry's Christmas pudding icecream too!

We've bought 3 so far... for 2 of us. We'll have custard and cream with them. Yum. 😁

Artandco · 19/12/2016 20:10

Love it. As do the kids. We have already eaten two this year

missyB1 · 19/12/2016 20:10

It seems to be a Marmite situation Grin

My mum was never a good cook bless her but she could bake, her Christmas cake and pudding are legendary in our family. She's 90 now and can't make them anymore- damn shame!

Oh no that Heston one made me feel ill last year. It has a huge slimy orange jelly like gunk in the middle

lilyb84 · 19/12/2016 20:14

I love it but DH won't eat it so this will be my 9th Christmas without.

Of course I make the most of all staff/social Christmas dinner opportunities to eat as much as possible in the run up to the day itself to make up for it Grin

lilyb84 · 19/12/2016 20:16

Also to add, for me it's not just the taste but the tradition. Reminds me of helping mum make it in October, watching it steam all day on Christmas day, lighting it then tucking in as a rare dessert (we weren't often allowed desserts so this was a treat). I had to eat everything I was given so wouldn't have dreamt of refusing it - maybe it's an acquired taste?

ShyTallSun · 19/12/2016 20:20

Agree with PP about fried Xmas pud. FOOD OF THE GODS...especially if you add a splash of brandy to the pan and serve with a large dollop of clotted cream!

NoahVale · 19/12/2016 20:24

not with brandy butter.
with cream.
love it

MorrisZapp · 19/12/2016 20:27

Right, what exactly is brandy butter? Is it actual butter, or a sauce?

lilyb84 · 19/12/2016 20:30

Brandy butter is butter. Brandy sauce is sauce. Both are good!

Tubbyinthehottub · 19/12/2016 20:30

It's too heavy and I'm not keen on desserts flavoured with alcohol. Plus cream and brandy sauce etc make me boak.

squoosh · 19/12/2016 20:33

I hate all dried fruit food items, mince pies, Christmas cake etc. but for some reason I do like a slice of plum pudding.

zukiecat · 19/12/2016 20:35

I love Christmas Pudding!

I get myself a little one every year as no-one else here likes it Xmas Smile

newmumwithquestions · 19/12/2016 20:36

It's lovely. I normally make my own as its a bit too rich for me (I basically halve the fat and sugar so it's a bit lighter).
Custard all the way!

But I agree - why do so many people that like sweet things dislike christmas pud?

SleepFreeZone · 19/12/2016 20:37

I used to like it. Now I find it far too sweet and sickly.

Groovee · 19/12/2016 20:38

I dislike cream and brandy butter. I don't like mince pies or fruit cake either.

Backingvocals · 19/12/2016 20:45

Interesting how many people hate dried fruit. I love it. My DNs hate it. I feel sad for them because of all the mince pies and hot cross buns they will never know.

I dont actually love christmas pudding though. It's just too much for me. I'll just shove in another five mince pies instead.

BikeRunSki · 19/12/2016 20:46

Because I am not really that keen on dried fruit. I'll swap my Christmas pud, mince pies and Christmas cake for a slice of marzipan stollen any day.

OdinsLoveChild · 19/12/2016 20:47

I really dislike Christmas pudding, Christmas cake and mince pies. It's like eating dead flies. I hate dried fruit. Although I do like the pastry off the top of the mince pies, no idea how I found that out Blush

lastqueenofscotland · 19/12/2016 20:48

It's fucking fowl.

zukiecat · 19/12/2016 20:48

I don't like turkey though and would never have it for Christmas Lunch

Or at any other time!

squoosh · 19/12/2016 20:50

Turkey is grim.

Thornrose · 19/12/2016 20:58

I love Christmas pudding but just a couple of spoonfuls and I'm done. I love rich, dark Christmas cake too.

Turkey however can fuck off. Grin
