Frozen as the Xmas day movie? Why?

justwanttoweeinpeace · 17/12/2016 17:49

Seriously. Hasn't everyone who wants to see it seen it already? Aren't some of us poor buggers stuck watching it daily?

Why the heck have they spent a load of money to show it on Xmas day? I get why the Xmas movie was a big deal in the eighties, but now? Can't they break with tradition and come up with some original programming instead?

Christmas tv is crap. Some good films are on after 11pm, too late for me.

EastMidsMummy · 17/12/2016 18:01

It won't have cost a lot of money.

IfartInYourGeneralDirection · 17/12/2016 18:03

Let it go op, the kids love it

OurBlanche · 17/12/2016 18:03

Why not?

I haven't seen it. Not everyone has kids, or kids of that age and such films are all part of the Christmas round, always have been.

Not everyone watches so much TV that they will have seen all films. Why not make your own tradition, one that doesn't involve parking yourselves and kids in front of the TV? Smile

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 17/12/2016 18:04

Let it go.

harderandharder2breathe · 17/12/2016 18:05

Surely the point of Christmas movies is it's one people watch over and over?

Artandco · 17/12/2016 18:06

I imagine because not many people watch tv Christmas Day so they just stuck any old thing on. Its a film for kids isn't it?

mintthins · 17/12/2016 18:06

I haven't seen it, and quite fancy it tbh. I agree with pp you really need to let it go.

glenthebattleostrich · 17/12/2016 18:06

Get sky, then you can watch zootropolis!

Artandco · 17/12/2016 18:07

Also Christmas films used to always be repeats ie chitty bang bang every year as a child

SquitMcJit · 17/12/2016 18:07

Moving Grin

Bananabread123 · 17/12/2016 18:08

Why do you care about the Christmas Day movie?.... ok, in the 80s it was a bigger deal as that was the only movie available... now with dvds, Netflix, 100 of channels, recorded tv, I don't get the issue. Also, what about everything else non screen related that you could do...

amispartacus · 17/12/2016 18:09

in the 80s it was a bigger deal as that was the only movie available

Happy days, The family all sat together waiting for the big movie. Things are a little different now.

intheknickersoftime · 17/12/2016 18:09

Rather than watch TV over Christmas do you want to build a snowman?

MsPavlichenko · 17/12/2016 18:09

My DC are grown up now so haven't seen it. I am really looking forward to it, as are DC, and my friends in similar situations!

amispartacus · 17/12/2016 18:15

TBH - I am sure most people will have seen any Christmas movie on BBC or ITV now.

ImYourMama · 17/12/2016 18:15

Let it go

AliceInUnderpants · 17/12/2016 18:16

Why would you be sitting down to a movie on xmas day? Won't you be finishing each others... (turkey) sandwiches? Wink

Sparklingbrook · 17/12/2016 18:18

I have never seen it but it looks annoying.

But we have Amazon Prime and a whole heap of DVDs so we will manage somehow over Christmas.

Hulababy · 17/12/2016 18:21

Im not sure the point of the mid afternoon Christmas Day film is to be one no one is likely to have seen. Its normally a family film that did well in the past few years, so Frozen, to me, seems to fit the bill.

Hasn't everyone who wants to see it seen it already?

Thats the case for any popular film.

Why would you be sitting down to a movie on xmas day?

Well, because everyone has different things they like to do on Christmas Day. Not everyone spends the day engaged in full on huge family round the table cooking or eating.

chipsandpeas · 17/12/2016 18:22

not everyone has sky, netflix etc so for those who only have freeview prob wont have seen it

BurnTheBlackSuit · 17/12/2016 18:24

We're recording it. But I don't actually care what they put on on Christmas Day really as I am not a fan of the tv on Christmas Day- I'd much rather spend it eating, talking, opening presents and playing games.

New Years Eve on the other hand.. why can't they put something decent on then so us boring people who don't go out can watch something original!

Lorelei76 · 17/12/2016 18:25

I dint have sky etc so only just saw it this summer, borrowed the DVD.
Mum and I are looking forward to it! She hasn't seen it at all.
I do love Olav and his summer song.

GhostOfChristmasYetToCome · 17/12/2016 18:25

Superman.

That's the only Christmas Day film that counts.

Although, they could have put Deadpool on...

GhostOfChristmasYetToCome · 17/12/2016 18:25

Or Star Wars.
