Frozen as the Xmas day movie? Why?

Seriously. Hasn't everyone who wants to see it seen it already? Aren't some of us poor buggers stuck watching it daily?

Why the heck have they spent a load of money to show it on Xmas day? I get why the Xmas movie was a big deal in the eighties, but now? Can't they break with tradition and come up with some original programming instead?

Those that haven't seen it I would encourage you to. I was very anti Frozen, people singing 'Let It Go' gave me the rage and it looked like an annoying film. I finally gave in when it was on Netflix a while ago and wow! There's something about it that is just enchanting. I love it and we watch it a lot. I wish I'd given it a chance earlier.

Bagina · 18/12/2016 12:28

Great news! I can finally record it!

While this is vaguely relevant, does anybody have DCs who were collecting the Kinder egg toys and didn't get all of them?

I have quite a few if anybody wants them. I think I have everything except Olaf (we never got one!).

I think it's great, but it's probably best appreciated on a cinema screen (we went to a SAL a couple of years ago). You could probably say that about any film, though. It is probably best suited for girls, really, but since I have three DDs that's not a problem. Anyone who hasn't seen it, give it a go - you might well enjoy it. Smile

Boys enjoy it too! My dd ended up with a copy because my friends little boy bought it for her. Sorry but I get the rage over gender stereotyping!

I'm very grateful that Frozen fever bypassed our house, I've seen it twice and hopefully never again.

YANBU. Is a god awful movie with not much substance behind it. It's success was down to clever marketing and nothing else - Disney even admitted this. I suspect it is on Christmas Day because there's a second one due out next year (apparently). I do think most children will have seen this already by now as it's 3 years old but I suppose a handful might not.

I would much prefer a good classic Christmas movie like It's a Wonderful Life, Elf, The Muppets Christmas carol, The Polar Express etc. Even something like Annie or l Mary Poppins would be better. I will be swiftly avoiding this movie and sticking on one of the Christmas music channels in its place (or a DVD of one of said movies).

RachelRagged The Wizard of Oz was DDs favourite movie from the age of 2 to 5. I must have seen it about 600 times now. Shock

Oldraver · 18/12/2016 18:45

I would be happy with Mary Poppins...we love her and have one on our tree..

LineyReborn · 18/12/2016 18:47

Cash the Let It Go.

SusanneLinder · 18/12/2016 19:26

OP I wondered the same, however I am surey DGD aged 3 will watch it for the eleventieth million time while sweetly and tunelessly singing "Let it Gooooooo" and doing the dance, whilst the rest of the adults chat before we play games after dinner. Grin
Hardly watch TV on Chrimbo day, but get more annoyed at the soaps who always have some tragedy or some character dying to keep you in the festive mood...Grin

TakemedowntoPotatoCity · 18/12/2016 20:59

This could be the new Mary Poppins. Our kids could be saying 'not that again' every year! It does have a wonderfully 'Christmassy' feel to it.

DirtyDancing · 18/12/2016 22:26

Watch something else; hire a movie you do like from Netflix; stare at the wall.... but stop moaning about non problems

mummydawn07 · 19/12/2016 13:27

frozen wasn't a bad film and my girl will watch it, while they are enjoying their presents and munching the adults in the meantime will be drinking and having a laugh, but I would happily never have to hear any of those songs again.. but it was definitely milked for all the money they could get from it, which must of been a mighty fortune, it does make me laugh that that they are only premiering it on tv on Christmas day when it came out in 2013 Grin
