To be worried about dh?

He is on his works christmas night out, this will be the first night out he's had in 7 years. It's a bus collection and drop off thing and he's already drunk. The last message he sent was difficult to understand. The bus is not going to collect him for 4 hours yet. He doesn't go on any night outs and has been excited about this all week just worried what state he's going to be in. I think I know everyone is going to say hes a grown man ffs it's just I don't drink so no idea what it's like. Should I just go to bed?

Why does it matter what state he is in? If your really worried ask him if he wants picking up?

Thattimeofyearagain · 16/12/2016 22:01

If he has his key just go to bed.

Lookinatu · 16/12/2016 22:03

He does have a key was just worried tbh cutting i dont know why. Feel silly now

cestlavielife · 16/12/2016 22:03

Why hadn't he been out for 7 years ?

MrsExpo · 16/12/2016 22:04

Not U to be worried at all. I think I would be too under the circumstances. Your options are limited though. Either wait for the arrival of a very drunk DH and be prepared for the aftermath (horrible hangover and possible illness!!!) or tell him you're coming to get him. Good luck either way ....

80schild · 16/12/2016 22:06

Go to bed and pray you don't get woken up by him coming in.

chickenowner · 16/12/2016 22:07

YANBU.

I can't help but worry about my DP sometimes too. In fact he's also out on his work Christmas do as well, and has been since 12.30! I dread to think how he'll be feeling in the morning...

Lookinatu · 16/12/2016 22:09

cest he doesn't have many friends and all of his previous jobs have been small companies so no night outs for Xmas. He has just joined this big company so massive event with casinos etc I am very jealous.

chicken yup your dp tops mine! My dp has only been out since 5.

Mine too, least his is in a hotel where they will be staying so no journey back.
I always worry, not sure exactly what of but I always do. The key is to accept the worry, know you can't change it, and carry on doing something nice for yourself. I'm painting my nails and doing a hair mask before bed :)

Crunchymum · 16/12/2016 22:17

The bus isn't collecting them until 2am?

Lookinatu · 16/12/2016 22:20

No crunchy! I thought it was a bit late but I don't do nights out so didn't say anything. My Xmas party is tomorrow and I will be home at 10.30pm.

Looks like he's got a bit out of it and folks don't usually like that. There's drunk then there's out of it. The out of it isn't normally popular. But he's a grown man and he's made his decision on how to behave. I'd go to bed , there's nothing you can do. Worrying or staying up isn't going to change the state he chose to get himself into.

GrumpyDullard · 16/12/2016 22:42

That text looks pretty bad. I'd be worried too if I got something like that, even without another 3 hours of drinking ahead. Oh dear. At least he doesn't have to make his own way back, if there's a bus laid on, so you shouldn't have to worry about him not making it home. Try to get him to drink lots of water before he goes to bed, to help with the hangover (although frankly, if he's that far gone, it may not make much difference!)

ClashCityRocker · 16/12/2016 22:42

I suspect he will come in, wake up you, the dog, the neighbours and burble shite and probably pee in the wardrobe or something.

And will feel shamefaced and shit tomorrow with the hangover from hell

In all seriousness, if he hasn't been 'out out' for a while, sounds like he doesn't know his limits. As a one off, I'd offer to pick him up if it was practical.

Or recommend he goes on the coke for a bit.

I reckon he's needing to pee a lot and there are only two toilets.

SamanthaUnkim · 16/12/2016 22:44

Get him to drink a pint of water when he gets in.
And get him to sleep on the sofa with a sick-bowl next to him..

And put on your "Don't even think about" pajamas

Lorelei76 · 16/12/2016 22:46

What time is the bus?
If he's really ill I guess they'll call you. Fun.
The Not going out for seven years has left me a bit in need of a drink! Grin

Lookinatu · 16/12/2016 22:46

Omg do people pee in a wardrobe? Shock I am at home with dd ( 16 weeks ) so would rather not go out and get him but if I have to I will. and take lots of pictures

OP posts:
SamanthaUnkim · 16/12/2016 22:47

Oooh found it

Jigglealltheway · 16/12/2016 22:47

Text him back offering to pick him up / call him a cab, if he wants to leave early.

Lorelei76 · 16/12/2016 22:48

Sorry you said 2 am
Just do what you'd normally do, he might stop drinking and be hungover by two!

Earlgreywithmilk · 16/12/2016 22:48

Go to bed now. You probably won't get much sleep when he finally rolls in. (My dh's snores like a frigging elephant when he's had too many) and the rooms going to stink to high heaven of second hand booze..

Itisnoteasybeingdifferent · 16/12/2016 22:49

Not just a pint of water..
But many many pints.. (WATER not more beer)
And an ibruorofen .... UNLESS he has a mediac reason to not take it..

And be kind to him if this is his first night out for many years..

Lorelei76 · 16/12/2016 22:50

Forget peeing in the wardrobe, one poster hubby shat on the stairs, mruined the mouse song forever!

Mate of mine crawled up stairs saying "I can't find my legs...help" because I said he was legless . Such fun telling him the next day Grin
