To leave my sleeping children with my teenager

My 7year old is going to a concert with school and will be back at around 10pm (which I'm ok with as a one off)

The choice is to wake the 5&6 year old up and take them to pick her up from school
Or
Leave them in bed with the 15 year old watching them while I pick them up.
Which would you choose?

I would do that with a 15yo. I used to babysit my baby brother and neices and nephews at that age.

claraschu · 14/12/2016 11:10

Leave with 15 year old. I baby sat a lot when I was younger than that, (and there were no mobile phones either). This would have been completely normal just a few years ago- actually I think it is still completely normal

BlossomCat · 14/12/2016 11:10

Option 2. If your 15 year old is sensible, it won't be a problem. It's not all night, and a lot better than having 3 tired and grumpy children the next day

DonaldStott · 14/12/2016 11:11

And omg, you have a 5,6 & 7 yo!! Kudos Grin

FortyFacedFuckers · 14/12/2016 11:11

I wouldn't have any problems leaving them with a 15 year old. I used to get paid to babysit at 15.

Seeline · 14/12/2016 11:11

Assuming it's only a short trip to pick up - not a 2 hour round trip, and that the teen is happy to do it, I wouldn't have a problem with leaving them.

WhatInTheWorldIsGoingOn · 14/12/2016 11:12

A 15 year old will be absolutely fine won't they? I don't think it would even cross my mind not to leave them. Isn't that why 15 year olds were invented?

GrandmaGotRunOverByAReindeer · 14/12/2016 11:13

Haha Donald, Thankyou Grin I had secondary infertility after the 15 year old which is why there's a big age gap, it was a bit of a surprise to end up with 3 under 3. Grin

Would not occur to me to even consider taking them.

1DAD2KIDS · 14/12/2016 11:13

15 is just an age not a guide of responsibility. A lot depends on the 15 year old in question and how sensible and responsible they are? After all they could join the Army next year. Only you can judge this. Like everything its a matter of risk management. If they are responsible enough then do it. But make sure you have armed them with a complete set of instructions/what to do if scenarios and checked their understanding.

birdybirdywoofwoof · 14/12/2016 11:14

My 15/16 yr old babysits loads. Its quite normal.

Im a little surprised you haven't made use of them before!

NotEnoughTime · 14/12/2016 11:14

I would 100% leave your other two DC with your fifteen year old if s/he is happy with this Smile

GreatFuckability · 14/12/2016 11:15

yeah i'd totally leave them with the 15 year old. wouldn't even occur to me to do otherwise.

GrandmaGotRunOverByAReindeer · 14/12/2016 11:16

Thankyou everyone, I'll do that then Smile

I think because they are so close in age they're a bit of a handful sometimes thelittlestoneistheringleader so I've never thought about leaving them with the teen before

SaltySalt · 14/12/2016 11:16

Yep, I'd leave them with the fifteen year old.

YelloDraw · 14/12/2016 11:18

Leave them in bed with the 15 year old watching them while I pick them up

This 100% unless there is something terrible about your 15 year old that you aren;t telling us
