AIBU to use zombie Christmas decorations? (Photo)

We have a singing Christmas tree. It's at least 12 years old (I can't remember who bought it or when, that's lost in the mists of time) DH hates it and has tried to destroy it, trampling on it in a fit of anger. But DD has resurrected it and it now stands nestled among houseplants near the front door and shouts "Merry Christmas" and sings every time the door is opened. It's remarkably resilient although has lost one eye and looks bedraggled. DH hates it. AIBU to not bin it?

Meh. If you like it then keep it!

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 13/12/2016 13:10

I'd keep it just because he tried to destroy it. What a knob. Does he usually try to destroy thing you and your DD like?

QueenofallIsee · 13/12/2016 13:11

I hate singing decs (MIL knows this and always buys me one for comedy value) that tree looks down right sinister. YABU if you don't resurrect the tree, hold it buy his head when he is sleeping and then set it off like the tree of doom it is

GettingitwrongHauntingatnight · 13/12/2016 13:15

I thought you were going to show us actal zombie decsGrin ahh I think it deserves to stay🎅🏻

5000candlesinthewind · 13/12/2016 13:16

Him hating it would make me want to cling on to it every day.

I'd put it by the bathroom door every night

Farmmummy · 13/12/2016 13:17

Haha candles I like you!!!

crazywriter · 13/12/2016 13:21

Haha I was expecting actual zombie Decs and was going to say YANBU.

Still NBU. I'd keep it out of spite for him attempting to destroy it. That's really mean and shows he has no respect for your belongings. There have been things of DHs that I really dislike but would never destroy then unless he gave me permission...happened once because it turned out he hated the item too but had kept it because he thought I liked it haha!

I'd be tempted to actually dress the tree up all zombie like ;)

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 13/12/2016 13:22

Grin Gettingit I was expecting a tree with mini skulls and decapitated zombie heads for baubles, and little light up tombstones.
But disappointed actually.

If dh doesn't like it because it's old, simply buy him a brand new singing tree, wrap it up and present it to him on Christmas morning. He'll be so surprised Xmas Smile.

designonaut · 13/12/2016 13:25

Some good ideas here - yes to dressing up the tree and moving it about surreptitiously. To be fair to DH it was more of a pretend attack on zombie tree. The cats have also attempted to destroy it. I'm wondering if it would survive a nuclear attack and be singing among the desolation.

Aww now I really want a full on zombie themed tree next year.

We've got a big gold bauble thing that blinks its eyes & sings Rocking Around The Christmas Tree in an awful voice. In fact it says 'marrily' instead of merrily. Its batteries oozed the other year so now it sounds like the Cryptkeeper is singing. It's still on the tree.....

IamtheZombie · 13/12/2016 13:29

Doesn't everyone have Zombie Christmas trees? Zombie certainly does. Xmas Grin Xmas Grin

designonaut · 13/12/2016 13:51

The rocking around the Christmas tree bauble sounds horrendous. I'm surprised these things last so long.

I was also expecting actual zombie decorations.

I'd keep the tree. Also love the bathroom door idea. Grin

I thought you had super gruesome and bloody decorations.

Keep it. Throwing it away would be awful to the tree, now that the resilient noise-maker has survived so much ;)!!!

1horatio · 13/12/2016 14:03

YABU if you don't resurrect the tree, hold it buy his head when he is sleeping and then set it off like the tree of doom it is

That had me giggle ;)

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 13/12/2016 14:10

We do have an ancient singing mouse that moves his arms in time to Jingle Bells. His movements are very jerky now, one of his feet has a hole and his voice sounds like he's underwater but the children love him. Xmas Wink

MrsMattBomer · 13/12/2016 14:29

We have a dancing Santa that sounds like a Demon but I refuse to get rid of it purely because it really annoys DP.

Our tree also has actual horror movie decorations on it including a chainsaw, a dismembered hand and a few eyeball baubles. We're a strange family.

iklboo · 13/12/2016 15:04

MIL bought bauble for DS. It's bloody awful but he loves it.
