Hi! I need some advice!
So I live in a rented property with my family and our neighbours are not the best. They own their house and moved in a couple of years ago. Since they moved in, they have played music incredibly loud most evenings and often until 6am.
We live on a main road and have houses at the back of us, and when they play music, you can hear it coming through the wall into ours and can hear it in every single room. Sometimes - most often than not - they play it with their windows and back door closed and it's so loud in the garden. I posted a letter through to them a couple of years back asking would it be possible to turn it down so that only they can hear it, to which they replied saying that no one has bothered them about it before and so we shouldn't.
We want to go round and have a word with them, and have done in the past but to no avail as they never answer their door but recently we've been noticing that they're quite violent with each other and drink quite a lot. It's not my place to say what goes on in that house but I'm slowly losing it.
I have social anxiety and it affects me so much that I sometimes don't want to leave the house and I'm just waiting for them to play music all the time. Which may seem ridiculous but it's just never ending. I want to enjoy living in my childhood home but it's being tarnished because of them. I want to approach them and ask them if they would be able to turn their music down so only they have to hear it, but they're not the most approachable people. I know that I cannot go on like this for much longer and I'm wondering what I can do and what rights I have as a tenant.
