DD has painted her brother's face.

Using my makeup.

Doublewear, my Benefit pallet, a Lancôme eyeliner. Etc.

More makeup than I would get through in six months.

A few months ago I found the £40 cleanser I'd 'lost' in her bedroom, empty. As you can imagine, words were had. So it's not like she doesn't know not to use my stuff.

She has just screamed at me that if I don't want her to use my stuff I shouldn't keep it in the family bathroom.

She is twelve.

She has masses and masses of her own stuff but she has just told me she prefers mine because it's nicer. No idea why she felt the need to use my nice stuff as fucking face paint on ds.

I can't even look at her right now. She also tried to blame her brother. She painted his face, but tried to tell us he did it.

Other than keep it under lock and key, how the fuck do I deal with this?

12! I assumed you were talking about a toddler!

GinIsIn · 10/12/2016 18:01

Does she get pocket money? If so, I would be stopping it until it was paid back!

acornsandnuts · 10/12/2016 18:02

At 12 I would expect her to pay to replace it. She is old enough to know better and there would be consequences. Does she get pocket money?

at that age I would expect her to repay it or do chores as punishment. the bathroom surely needs cleaning, beds need changing...

HardLightHologram · 10/12/2016 18:04

Dh is dealing with her as I am too ragey right now.

He's asking her how she thinks we should deal with it. Her solutions so far are that I keep my makeup in my room, or that I buy her better makeup.

I'm going outside for a fag to calm down.

Yep. Pocket money confiscated until it repays for the make up

She takes your stuff then says you should buy her better stuff. Cheeky mare!!

HardLightHologram · 10/12/2016 18:06

I've just priced it all up. It would be £170 to replace the lot. She's snapped the end off my eyebrow pencil and gouged a great big hole in the eyeshadow.

I am seriously tempted to make her pay for new stuff.

Bluntness100 · 10/12/2016 18:08

She can't have used it all up though? I mean, cmon she'd have to go some with things like eye liner.

For me, yes of course she should get into trouble for doing it, she knew it was wrong, but I'm sorry for me this wouldn't be such s major crime.

Trifleorbust · 10/12/2016 18:08

Definitely do it. The little madam, suggesting you hide your stuff so she doesn't take it or you pay for her to have better make up. 😂

I would be seriously inclined to buy her no more make up at all.

Bluntness100 · 10/12/2016 18:09

Sorry, she's ruined it all?

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 10/12/2016 18:09

I'd get her to pay. By her reasoning, anything that's not in someone's bedroom is fair game?

OurBlanche · 10/12/2016 18:09

Well, if you don't do something now she will carry on acting like an incredibly spoiled brat!

You grew her, you get to prune her... as my Nana used to say (mainly about my Perma Pouting cousin!)

She hasn't used it all but she's used loads. I only wear makeup on high days and holidays. I wore it today because we went out for lunch, and left stuff in the bathroom.

Floggingmolly · 10/12/2016 18:11

Why are you buying any sort of makeup for a 12 year old?

RainbowJack · 10/12/2016 18:12

I am seriously tempted to make her pay for new stuff.

Why wouldn't you?

If she's so disrespectful to you, clearly what you've been doing hasn't been working.

GinIsIn · 10/12/2016 18:13

Shock Definitely make her start paying! And I would be tempted to confiscate things every time she leaves anything outside her room, because if she wants to keep it she should have it locked away in her own room....

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 10/12/2016 18:13

Perhaps she had no idea how expensive your make-up is or how precious to you? At 12, she must realise it's not on to take your possessions so she needs to learn there's a consequence to her actions.

Does your son look good? Grin

bumsexatthebingo · 10/12/2016 18:14

Presumably there is some left of it. The eyebrow pencil will sharpen etc. But she has wasted some and you will have to replace it sooner. I would make her contribute half the cost from pocket money/chores etc.

lougle · 10/12/2016 18:14

Does she have enough money to buy new stuff?? If she does (lucky her) you could suggest that she buys your current make up from you at the rate it will cost you to replace it - then she's got some nice makeup and your makeup is replaced.

Soubriquet · 10/12/2016 18:15

If she leaves any of her possessions around the house make sure you take them and use them

Using her logic, it's in the public area, you can use them
