To ask if I have or not got the job

Had an interview last week . They said they would phone or email on Monday on the outcome ..,I just want to know one way or other .. December can be so busy I feel like I can't make definite plans . I feel like phoning them

Give them a few more days then send a polite email.

Unfortunately I'd assume you haven't got the job if you haven't heard back by now. Sometimes they say they will get back to you either way but don't. It wouldn't BU to ring and politely ask for feedback on your interview though and then you'll know for sure.

Could be they have offered the job to one of the other candidates and are waiting to hear whether they are accepting it before telling you one way or the other.

I would always wait a couple of days after the given date; that way you don't risk looking a bit desperate! Plus, even if they have offered the job to another candidate they won't say 'no' to you if there is a chance they would offer you the job if the other person turned it down.
