Someone's nicked my mug!

Just went to make a drink at work and couldn't find my mug in the cupboard so have had to use a spare so had a quick wander to see whose nicked it and there it is sat on some blokes desk.

Now if you see a mug in the office with a picture of someone's kids on it wouldn't it dawn on you that it actually belongs to someone and isn't a spare?

First world problems and all that but come on!!

Mug theft is a Serious Issue in our office. The sales team have form for turning up en masse for 'strategy days' and helping themselves to personal mugs, rather than the plain 'guest mugs' - of which there are plenty.

Emails have been sent by the Senior PA promising death and painful treatment if mug swiping happens. However the sales lot are brazen and just sling mugs in the sink (rather than the dishwasher, which is another bone of contention) and hoof it out of the building. I keep my mug in my locked desk drawer when I'm not there.

I had the opposite problem: regardless of signs in the tiny kitchenette, people left dirty mugs by the sink. In the end I collected them all - about 20 of them - washed them up, put them on my office table, photographed them and sent an email around the building asking owners to reclaim. A few people did, and I wrote their name on the bottom of their mug so I knew who to shout at next time. The rest are off to Oxfam.

K425 - that's brilliant. Some people are disgusting with kitchen hygiene.

I wash mine up at the end of the day and put it back in my desk. Mine is one of those huge mugs, about the size of a Sports Direct mug.
No one drinks as much tea as me so they are not allowed to touch it.

I'm very territorial about my tea mugs.

OP, I feel your pain. WTF is wrong with people and their five fingered discount of other people's stuff? Utter cockwombles.
