Here I am, starting a new very angry thread because I'm honestly quite frustrated.

I called my GP today. Got yet another tonsillitis, and this time it's a bad one, I kid you not.
Initially there were 8 calls ahead of me. So I waited patiently. Then finally, there was only ONE call ahead of me! For 20 minutes.

Yep, looks like they were talking to one person for 20 minutes. I finally hung up because I got so pissed off.

Honestly, AIBU?

ARGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

explodes in rage

Our GP line has options for appointments and options to speak to receptionist etc. An appt call shouldn't take more than a minute or two.

Does you GP only have one line for everything?

The thing is, if patients before you are very ill it's not unreasonable to have to wait.

I think we can even make an appt online.

Line can be engaged as well because they're ringing patients back, speaking to the hospital, ringing ambulances to book them for admissions... Etc etc

Yabu. You were next in queue!
Who knows what the problem in front of you was?
I've rang up for an app before only for them to get the doc on the phone and them to send me to the hospital!
I've also been there when there was an emergency and they had to get an ambulance out.
That certainly took a few minutes on the phone relaying the information.
It's awful being ill, so i have sympathy As i've had that enough times, but yabu here.

I hate how long it takes! I often have to call to make appointments or arrange home visits for residents and it wastes time that I just don't have to spare at work. It means residents get less of my time and attention.

wizzywig · 06/12/2016 15:06

if its anywhere like where i work, people pretend they cant hear the phone ring

Flowerpower321 · 06/12/2016 15:10

Mini- But you can buy worm medicine over the counter- why even waste a GP phone call and a prescription charge getting the doctor to do it? No wonder there are no appointments if people waste them on threadworms!

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 06/12/2016 15:11

I really hate it that we know consider ourselves lucky to get an appointment when we need it.

I never ever get appointments when I need them, ever.
Beginning to question the viability of the NHS.
