Hey wondering if you can help me. I had what I thought was a chemical pregnancy on the 15th novemeber. I have been bleeding every since. I am now getting cramping pains thats runs down my legs. The bleeding is so odd, one minute its dark brown then its fresh clots.
I have a scan on friday for possibly retained tissue. Are they syptoms of this??

Im so very scared this is my 3rd loss this year and im worried if I have to have another d&c it will effect me in the long run!

Please help & sorry for the long post 🙈🙈 xx

This is on AIBU (am I being unreasonable) - if you click the 'report' button at the top of your post and ask MN HQ to move your post to the appropriate topic. Sorry you're going through this Flowers

It could be a sign of retained products, but if so they might be able to offer you a tablet to induce a medical miscarriage rather than opting for a d&c? Sorry for your losses, I've had 2 this year and having to worry about physical things on top of the emotional is really shitty.

winterisnigh · 05/12/2016 20:37

op you should be ok in these situation to get advice here, its got huge traffic flow and is fine!

Mummy523 · 06/12/2016 10:07

Oh hahaha I didnt realise!! The bleeding is driving me potty!! Surely it isnt normal! 3 weeks after chemical? Maybe it wasnt chemical? Ive taken another test and its negative so im defo not pregnant & I would have thought with retained tissue it would still be positive? Xx

i bled for weeks after all of my MC's. How do you feel in yourself? if you are well then I wouldnt be too worried.
D&C is highly unlikely to affect your chances of conceiving again.

Marynary · 06/12/2016 10:31

I don't think you will need a D&C. I bled for quite a while after my three miscarriages and clots came out during menstruation in the month following that. I didn't have a D&C for any of them (the first was "natural" and the second two were medically induced). I went on to have a healthy child.

I'm not sure you can have retained tissue from a chemical pregnancy. A CP is where the egg implants only very briefly, just long enough to make a test positive before it 'comes away' so really there shouldn't be any tissue to retain as everything is still microscopic at this point.

As you say it might not have been a Chemical pregnancy though.

Mummy523 · 06/12/2016 11:04

How long do u normally bleed after a chemical pregnancy?

I feel ok in myself apart from the cramping it made me feel so sick last night i just dont understand 😫 Xx

Chemical pregnancies are usually more or less the same as a period. The only reason many women are even aware of them nowadays is because tests are so sensitive that they can test before a period. Before then they would have thought it was a period. Even with these sensitive tests imagine that lots of women, who aren't TTC so testing often, have chemical pregnancies and are non the wiser.

When was your LMP before all this happened? When was the pregnancy confirmed? Is it possible you were further along than you thought? I've had my share of chemical pregancies and miscarriages and the only one that came with cramps so severe I felt sick was at 10ish weeks and had serious complications.

Marynary · 06/12/2016 15:20

Did you ever have a positive pregnancy test OP?

Mummy523 · 06/12/2016 16:12

OP means original poster, in other words you Smile

Have you been having these intense cramps for the entire 3 weeks? When did you get your negative test? I'm just wondering wether you might have remained pregnant after the bleeding first started and have only recently began to miscarry. I would say a miscarriage at 6-7 weeks fits your description better than a miscarriage at 4 weeks.

I'm Just making guesses here obviously, but I hope Friday's scan can provide you with some proper answers.

In the meantime, if you at any point start to bleed very heavily (to the point you're filling a pad within an hour) or the cramps become more intense (almost contraction like) then you must call NHS 111 for advice.

Mummy523 · 06/12/2016 18:30

I never tested again as I belived it was chemical as I started bleeding.

The doctor test yesterday & was negative. No the cramps have only been in the last week.

Thank you very much for all your help xxx
