To be awake?

I'm on a mental health ward and I've had sleeping meds but I'm still awake. I've had some sleep but an upset tummy woke me up. They have stopped two of my meds cold turkey without telling me why, which is why my tummy is bad I think (although they deny this)

Anyhow, who else is awake? What are you up to?

Struggling: the nursing staff may not know why your meds have been stopped - not ideal, but that's why it's so important you speak to the psychiatrist ASAP. They are there to help you, even if it might not always feel like it.

GOOD NEWS. just went and nagged at the meds room and they said the pharmacist is just confirming my meds now. I want to stop these meds eventually but not cold turkey like that.

Very hopeful now about going home

So mum rang and they told her I'm under assessment till tomorrow. Why they haven't told me I don't know.

It's all a bit of a shambles tbh. I have been let out alone for fresh air though. Another good sign for discharge.

I MIGHT get a conversation with a nurse tomorrow.

I'm going to discharge myself today if I don't get my meds

I got my meds! I had to threaten to discharge myself but I got them.

Good on you, for insisting on being heard. The mental health team stopped one of my DH's anti-psychotic meds without explanation. He committed suicide within a month.

Hold onto making yourself heard, and don't ever stop, until they listen.

Struggling123 · 05/12/2016 19:05

It is my anti psychotic and anti depressant that they stopped. Considering I'm in for suicidal intrusive thoughts, they are pretty important.

How are you today?

Struggling123 · 06/12/2016 14:58

Mostly tired. Think I'm recovering. I've not really been eating properly either.

My cpn rang the ward to see what is happening then rang me on my mobile to tell me that the doctor is finally seeing me at about 1pm tomorrow. Why the ward staff couldn't tell me to my face I don't know.

Hello Struggling,

Glad you got your prescribed meds sorted. Perhaps the ward staff asked your cpn to ring you because you have an established relationship with cpn?

Take naps when the tiredness comes, don't fight it.

Please let us know how you get on with the doctor tomorrow?

ZebraOwl · 07/12/2016 04:34

If the ward staff picked up on your anxiety about their treatment of you they may have been concerned you wouldn't trust what they told you. As RubbishMantra said, the established relationship you have with your CPN may also have been seen as the best way to communicate with you effectively & clearly: possibly your CPN suggested it when they were on the phone.

Let us know how it goes, won't you?

mawbroon · 07/12/2016 04:44

I'm awake because the shit hit the fan yesterday and I can't sleep for thinking what to do about it.

I take antipsychotics which normally knock me out. I've just taken an extra one in the hopes that I can get some sleep

UnbornMortificado · 07/12/2016 06:28

Oh Struggling I sympathise. Bastards took me off my citalopram last year (after 5 years) then wondered why I was homicidal.

Of course withdrawals are possible.

Hope you get your discharge soon Flowers

The doctor agrees :-D freedom!

Congratulations Flowers

I'm heading towards a stay myself and I'm not thrilled by the prospect.
