Loft padlock??

I need to get a padlock for the loft and thought it would just be a simple job of buying a padlock and asking our builders to fit it .Turns out it's not so simple. Does anyone have suggestions of what we could use and where we could quickly get it- need it by Monday/Tuesday of next week. Many thanks.

Why is it not so simple?

Out of curiosity why do you need to padlock the loft?
What / who are you keeping up there?

I just got a "normal" padlock and screwed it onto loft door.
I shall take a photo ..... no actual lock on it now though as not needed (I rented out my house, and left a few large items in the loft. Agent had spare keys, though in an emergency you could have easily removed it)

Flappy half obviously was attached where the screw holes on the door can be seen. Then bog-standard padlock.

Why do you need to padlock the loft?

Sorry I'm nosey and have no helpful advice. I just would like to know the reason for padlocking the loft too.

Is there a dead body in the loft? 😱
