Made an order on Amazon - couldn't remember my password so was quicker to make a new account - didn't require email address only a phone number. Ordered 3 items. Couple days later check and it says payment couldn't be taken and to revise payment method. (As I hadn't had to enter an email address, I'd had no notification of this). Re-entered my details a couple of times but it still just kept asking me to revise them with no explanation. Added an email address to my account and the next day got an email to say order had been cancelled...

Annoying but not the end of the world. Ordered on eBay instead yesterday. Today one of the items arrives from Amazon!

Checked my bank account and PayPal just to be sure and no money has been taken... What would you do? It's a book, cost about £4 - wondering now if the other items will turn up too?

Contact the seller and ask if they want it back? They may say to keep it anyway. I cancelled 1 order as I received the item as a gift, it was sent anyway and the seller told me to keep it as the postage was more than the value of the book.

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 02/12/2016 13:59

Have they used the payment method from your original account?

It's unlike amazon to dispatch without payment but if they have; they'll chase it up quickly and give you 30 days to return the items or pay for them, I believe.

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 02/12/2016 14:00

Oh was it from Amazon themselves or the marketplace? I'm not sure what a marketplace seller would do!

unicornpoopoop · 02/12/2016 14:07

It was actually from Amazon. Yes cannot figure out how it would have reached dispatch without a payment. I've checked Amazon again and it definitely says the whole lot is cancelled.

I would tell them, they will probably let you keep it anyway rather than having to send out labels for you to post (I imagine that as you cancelled the order and got it anyway the return postage cost will fall with them)

unicornpoopoop · 02/12/2016 14:12

I guess il wait a couple of days to see if the other items arrive so I only have to make 1 phone call.

Internet shopping this year has been one major fail! Cancelled orders arriving. Other orders not arriving! Items supposedly located in the uk arriving from China Hmm

Think I may just need to brave the shops

I've bought things from eBay and had them turn up in Amazon packaging. Can't remember why but it's a thing. Is it possible the one that's arrived could have been from eBay?

unicornpoopoop · 02/12/2016 15:45

Lily I did wonder that! But there's a little packaging slip inside that says thanks for using Amazon. And I've checked the eBay seller and it's not Amazon related. I suppose il know if/when the other one turns up

Was the EBay item more expensive than the Amazon one?

I've ordered from eBay and had it arrive from Amazon - the seller charges a little more than Amazon, orders items from Amazon as a gift and makes a small profit.

MrsReiver · 02/12/2016 15:48

Cross post - is it a gift receipt? Check if the order number matches your cancelled order or not.

unicornpoopoop · 02/12/2016 16:37

It was a little more expensive. Would they be able to get it here so quickly? I only ordered yesterday evening.

Can't find an order number for my cancelled order though.

Yes if they have Amazon prime

unicornpoopoop · 02/12/2016 16:40

Ah it very well may just be the eBay order then. I'm not fussed that i paid an extra £1 when delivery is that quick!

I had that before too. I ordered from eBay and the seller bought it cheaper from Amazon and had it shipped directly to me so it arrived in Amazon packaging.

ItWentInMyEye · 03/12/2016 18:48

This week I ordered from ebay and it arrived in an amazon package. Odd!

It is not yours to keep. Send it back.
