to think some people just don't want to sell their houses?

Despite them being up for sale?

We have accepted an offer on our house. But finding one to buy has been nigh-on impossible, the market is moving pretty fast round here but so far we have encountered several who will only accept viewings during office hours (DH can do the odd one but due to commute and speed the market is moving it isn't easy), one who didn't want us going upstairs, several who despite having their houses on the market aren't accepting viewings until they find somewhere to buy and that's not including those who don't clean or tidy before viewings (that doesn't particularly bother me as I am looking at potential and we want a project but an unflushed loo and dirty underwear on the floor is just unnecessary).

We have put an offer on a house which is 'being considered', it's an asking price offer and we have shown our lending agreement and the estate agent has spoken to our agent to confirm the selling price, and yet they are taking a week to come back with an answer.

I swear some people don't really want to sell!

But surely that's better than them accepting but pulling out a month down the line??

I had a house viewing put off by the owner twice, they then withdrew from the market.

I don't get some people.

My parents tried to view a house a few years ago but the vendor kept cancelling/obstructing. Turned out it was a divorce situation and the wife, who was still residing there, didn't want to sell and was telling the husband (who'd moved into temporary accommodation pending the sale) that there'd been no interest. In the end he stopped paying the mortgage and it was repossessed, but by then my parents had moved elsewhere.
