Fuming, raging, heartbroken....

It seems like this is used about everything now.

AIBU to wonder why nobody is ever just a bit miffed or slightly put out anymore?

And what happens to the fuming, heartbroken ragers who get so angry about an innocuous comment from a teacher or a sideways glance on public transport when something really bad happens? Do their heads actually explode?! Confused

TheOnlyLivingBoy the irony being I was just about to post about how quickly someone will claim a thread is 'Mumsnet at its worst/best' as another example of my favourite MN hyperboles.

I LOVE the word 'incandescent' - I plan to be incandescent at least twice today.

GetOutMyCar - this thread isn't mocking emotionally vulnerable people. It just isn't.

FairNotFair · 29/11/2016 08:59

Don't forget"disgusted"

Don't you mean "discusted", Rose?

NeepNeepNeep · 29/11/2016 09:02

GetOutMyCar you don't know the emotional or mental health status of anyone on this thread.

Puffinitee · 29/11/2016 09:02

GetOutMyCar I've just been sent home from work due to MH problems, so I suppose I'm not mentally robust at the moment. I can assure you this thread is exactly what I need right now! And yes, it shows a finer side of MN imho

Puffinitee · 29/11/2016 09:03

incandescent reminds me of light bulbs

YvaineStormhold · 29/11/2016 09:04

My piss is boiling on everyone's behalf. I'm actually shaking with rage about whatever it is you're going through right now. Whoever you are.

GinIsIn · 29/11/2016 09:05

I just want to point out in all seriousness that my intention is not to belittle the less emotionally robust - quite the opposite. Words have power and meaning, and my point is that if people use the most extreme and dramatic of adjectives for things like their name being misspelled in Starbucks, what is there left to describe genuine distress when that occurs?

Wails on anguish and beats chest that someone doesn't like my thread

Do they actually do that, TheOnlyLivingBoy? It sounds so remarkably bonkers! Grin

I agree with the 'Mumsnet at its best/worst' thing, it makes my hair cringe.

I'd like to add the under/over hyperbole combination here... AIBU to be slightly incensed...? over some minor transgression that pre-overreacting times, wouldn't even have warranted mention.

NeepNeepNeep · 29/11/2016 09:07

I'm gutted for you Fenella

BertrandRussell · 29/11/2016 09:08

Sorry, I can't read ths, I am too busy literally wretching because somebody offered me something I don't like very much for breakfast.

Pagwatch · 29/11/2016 09:08

I am sometimes irked.

YoHoHoandabottleofTequila · 29/11/2016 09:09

Sobbing, is another one. I'm going to spend the whole day doing it.

Pagwatch · 29/11/2016 09:09

The hyperbole on MN is entertaining though.

Owllady · 29/11/2016 09:09

You should all be ashamed of yourselves

80sWaistcoat · 29/11/2016 09:10

I am incandescent this morning because the milk in my tea tastes like it might be about to go on the turn. Not so much that I can't drink it - but enough to have to wonder about whether it'll last the day.

Even though I'm going out at lunchtime and can buy some more in any case.

YvaineStormhold · 29/11/2016 09:10

I just know that I'll be thinking about this thread for days.

viques · 29/11/2016 09:10

A very serious question. If you are slightly incensed does that mean that you are a little bit singed at the edges but smelling nice?

QueenMortificado · 29/11/2016 09:11

Princess Diana

Grin thanks for the lol!

Pagwatch · 29/11/2016 09:11

Mumsnet at its worst is often used alongside 'I think the op is getting an unnecessarily hard time'

Although it's tough because some threads actually are mumsnet at its worst.

ChristmasEvePJs · 29/11/2016 09:11

MIL is often 'in misery' Hmm.

Owllady · 29/11/2016 09:11

Being slightly insenced is nothing to do with joss sticks then? Confused

QueenMortificado · 29/11/2016 09:12

Doesn't "here, have my first biscuit" fall in to this category

Literally NO ONE gives a shit about whether it's your first biscuit or not. Besides, they're not funny.

Eliza22 · 29/11/2016 09:12

I agree. I think that because we live in a "full on" world now, there's little subtlety. You've got to be loud in your appearance, manner, vocals. Just to ensure your voice is heard. You're passed over if you're "mousey" in any way.

It really irritates me when people describe everything as amazing!. Really? A loaf of bread (a fancy French topknot loafy-type one) featured on some I know's Instagram recently. Lots of followers were of the opinion it was "amazing!" It was a large bread roll.

What small lives we live now, despite the technology/travel/opportunities on offer.

ScrambledSmegs · 29/11/2016 09:12

I like it when people are mortified out of context.
