went to get my hair cut. Its a small salon.
Bloke cutting my hair and the other customer is having her hair styled and blow dried by the other hairdresser- so other customer was there a fair while before me.

Customers phone rings and she indicates to her hairdresser to stop the hairdryer. Waffles on for 5-6 minutes. Hairdresser stands waiting.

My hair is cut and my bloke is about to start drying my hair and other woman is still having her hair styled.
Phone goes off again and she has another long conversation. It didn't sound urgent...more of a 'hi haven't spoken for ages, how's xxxx" but has this longish conversation while my bloke and hers are meant to stand there like idiots.(and me sitting there open mouthed)

I was a bit gobsmacked that she though she was so important that 3 other people should stop making a noise while she chatted inanely.

Is this usual?

Incredibly rude! If it was my salon I wouldn't give her another appointment!

ScarletForYa · 25/11/2016 03:01

I'm amazed anyone indulged her! Are you saying your hairdresser held of drying your hair because of her?

If so, that's ridiculous of him.

BananaInPyjama · 25/11/2016 03:04

he did for a minute or so, then looked somewhat incredulous and started up. She looked miffed.

English is not his main language and I think he was struggling what to say! Poor bloke.

Incredibly rude to the staff & other customers. I put my phone on silent when in a salon & text people if they call me saying I'll call them when I leave

TitaniasCloset · 25/11/2016 13:45

Wow. How does anyone become that entitled?

Isthatwhatdemonsdo · 25/11/2016 15:15

Fucking Hell! What an entitled bitch. I used to be a hairdresser, no way would I have put up with that shite.

CherryChasingDotMuncher · 25/11/2016 15:17

YABU. Have you though that maybe she isn't rude but has MH issues? You should have offered her a creme egg Wink

My salon has signs on all the mirrors asking clients to please turn off phones. Maybe they should do that, then they can carry on with their work without feeling uncomfortable ?

My hairdresser always goes to the exact end time of the appointment, not quite sure how she does that. But it means a delay like that would seriously inconvenience the next client.

I can never understand how people can feel they are so important.

Whathappendexactly · 25/11/2016 19:48

Today I called my client from the waiting room. They were on their phone so wiggled a finger at me! I waited several seconds, they stood up and started following me while glued to the phone so hard he never looked up to see whichor room I went into. Now I'm getting cross, pop my head out of the door and ask him in. In he comes, still on his phone. Then stands there for a few minutes finishing his e mail. Then settled in the chair without a word. Unbelievably rude and quite brave to pissed off his dental hygienist at the start of his appoitment.

It's the way of the world now I think.

She must have thought she was at Elizabath Arden in New York.
