What televisions do you have in your bedrooms?

I want to install a television in a bedroom that is independent from the set up to the main television in the lounge.

What size of television do you have? Do you have an Amazon Fire television stick or similar? Any recommendations? I don't want it to be massive, and I will be putting it on a stand rather than the wall. Any recommendations as to brands etc?

32" Samsung in our bedroom with Sky Multiroom though thinking about taking our kodi stick to use on it and save money. Kids both have 20" TV's (roughly I think) that are just for playing on Xbox on.

megletthesecond · 17/11/2016 20:11

It must be approx 14" screen with a separate digi box. Both over a decade old.

It's perfect when I'm feeling run down and want to relax on bed. It's not on every day.

JenLindleyShitMom · 17/11/2016 20:11

You don't have to explain yourself at all OP. It really isn't an odd thing to have a TV in a bedroom. I am single and a parent of young DC so evening times I am restricted to the house. I watch a lot of TV and I want to be warm and comfortable when I do so I do it in bed.

Thatwaslulu · 17/11/2016 20:11

Wow pink I am impressed! My DH keeps nagging me for a bigger telly for the living room (we currently have a 32" LG and I think it's fine). Have you got a big living room?

Princecharlesfirstwife · 17/11/2016 20:13

Also none, I've never had television in the bedrooms. I actually don't really comprehend why people do.

Ooh, get you. Maybe because people like watching tv in their bedroom? How's that for a radical idea?

We love our bedroom tv. Dh and DD2 currently snuggled up together watching last night's IACGMOOH before she goes to her (none tv'd bedroom).

JenLindleyShitMom · 17/11/2016 20:13

when we do, will have a 65inch in the bedroom.

Shock I didn't know they came that big? How big is your bedroom?

goddessofsmallthings · 17/11/2016 20:13

I don't have a tv in my bedroom but I recently bought the Samsung 22" smart tv for one of my spare bedrooms so that my dgc (godchild) can slope off and watch what they want when they stay over at Christmas: www.johnlewis.com/search?Ntt=22+inch+tv&Nty=1&_requestid=821783 for

Both of these tvs have full hd which, depending on what part of the country you live in, adds a couple of extra channels (CBS Drama and Viva as I recall) to freeview.

BlackIsTheNewBlack · 17/11/2016 20:14

I've got a small 22" in the bedroom hooked up to now TV because I don't have an areal in there. I'm also considering getting an Amazon fire stick so I can have Netflix without the bother of connecting the laptop to it.

My bedroom is tiny so a small TV is absolutely fine.
I absolutely love having a TV in there and really like snuggling up with my hot water bottle watching a film

BonnieF · 17/11/2016 20:14

Only 1 TV in the house, in the sitting room.

Putting a TV in the bedroom would make it feel too much like yet another bloody hotel room....

BannedexPIPassessor · 17/11/2016 20:14

32 inch one, smart tv.

Smartleatherbag · 17/11/2016 20:15

We've a 32 in the sitting room and the same in the gaming room for xbox. There's a teeny one in our bedroom, but never really use it, unless someone is poorly.
Have whatever you like and suits you.

BannedexPIPassessor · 17/11/2016 20:16

Why wouldn't you want a telly in the bedroom? it's nice to cuddle up together and watch it.

Fitzsimmons · 17/11/2016 20:16

26 inch Sony. We have an Amazon firestick plugged in, no other aerial etc, so we just use the firestick with it. It's great for casual use, usually when we are both exhausted and want to watch something in bed before sleeping. You can get Netflix and BBC iplayer on there as well as the Amazon stuff, not sure what else. Obviously needs a good WiFi connection as well. Ignore the TV snobs, you don't need to justify yourself.

ForalltheSaints · 17/11/2016 20:17

None. It is the oasis from technology save mobile phones.

BannedexPIPassessor · 17/11/2016 20:18

So you don't have a radio in there either?

MiracletoCome · 17/11/2016 20:20

We've always had TV in the bedroom, it's usually the one that is relegated from the lounge, DH also has one in the garage for when he is on his exercise bike.

I have been trying to buy a TV stand for the bedroom but it is difficult to get one high enough so we use a chest with a bit cut out of the back for the skybox wiring

Manumission · 17/11/2016 20:20

Small white, integral stand and built in DVD drive. Like this but smaller;

Also a fire stick.

facepalming · 17/11/2016 20:22

Haha I have a 42 inch in my room on a dresser!! Its our old one from the living room. It's a smart tv so we have amazon and Netflix etc and that's enough. We usually only have about an hour to relax in the evening once kids are in bed and dinner is finished so I love curling up with DH in our cosy superking bed and watching something.

So cozy! And I wasn't so convinced about such a big tv in the bedroom but I'm a total.convert now!

Piehunter · 17/11/2016 20:22

I have a 22" tesco brand Tv with built in Dvd player, have a now tv box and chromecast upstairs too. It's on a swivelling magic bracket. I have chronic illness and can spend a lot of time in bed, my bedroom Tv saves my sanity!! I grew up in a no tvs upstairs household but I love going to bed early with DH when we're tired/cold and can snuggle up, watch TV and snooze..

Floralnomad · 17/11/2016 20:22

We have a 32" blaupunkt in our room , it was very cheap in Tesco, I bought it with Clubcard points, it only has freeview but is perfectly functional . DD has an LCD 32" Samsung ( freeview and DVD player) and DS has a 32" Samsung smart tv . DD has hers on the wall but ours is on a stand and DS has his on top of a chest of drawers. We have larger Samsung TVs downstairs and it's a brand I would highly recommend , JL normally have good deals on , give good guarantees and do price match .

MiracletoCome · 17/11/2016 20:28

For brands, I recommend Samsung and Panasonic, though we have got a 22inch Tesco TV/DVD combo in the caravan and that is perfectly fine also. We did have a Goodmans once but that didn't last long

anyoldname76 · 17/11/2016 20:30

weve got a 22inch tv with built in dvd player, weve also got a fire stick plugged into it. ive also got a v shaped pillow especially for tv watching Grin

MrsNuckyThompson · 17/11/2016 20:30

No tv here either.

afromom · 17/11/2016 20:32

We have a Samsung 40" in our room, we connect the laptop via a hdmi cable to watch Netflix etc.
DS has a 46" lg in his room attached to his Xbox, which is ridiculously big, but his dad bought it for him so not a lot I could do about it!
DSD has a 32" cheap one from tesco in hers (possibly blaupunkt - I can't be bothered to get up and look).
I would recommend against the really cheap ones as they tend to have very limited connectors in the back, DSDs doesn't have a scart connecter, which is the only connector on her DVD player!

clare2307 · 17/11/2016 20:33

We have a 32 inch Samsung in our bedroom - would have a bigger one but we have an alcove in the wall and that's the biggest size it will fit... Some people like a telly in their bedroom, some people don't! Not sure why not having one makes some people feel superior?!
