I drive dh's car, he drives mine for various reasons. I keep mine in good running condition but it has just had an expensive service/mot.
We spend the whole being a bit poor, nothing to bad, just no luxurys, in overdrafts etc despite working v hard and earning quite well.
I asked him to sort out mot for his car, hes been a bit vague. Finally told me its due end of Nov so he'll get it booked in. In a moment of clarity I googled whens my mot up, dvla website says it expired at end of August! So he's lying about it. But I suppose its possible he genuinely didn't know...
I drive the kids around in it so now I'm nail bitingly anxious. Going to discuss it later after work but aibu to think this is actually quite a 'big' thing to mislead me on?!

Insurance is not invalidated and you will not get points on your licence. But you will get a fine. Sadly, I know this from personal experience (£100 fine, £35 costs and a £30 victim surcharge, whatever that may be). Like your husband, I thought I knew when it was due.
I was wayyyy wrong. Like your husband probably did, I relied on my peculiarly unreliable memory instead of checking the facts. Get your car back and let him drive it til its sorted.

not read entire thread, sorry, but i'm wondering is he being a bit cagey because money might not be available if it needs work done ? you did mention finances had been tight and that he likes 'to protect you', not necessarily lying but keeping the truth from you ? [wanders off to read whole thread because have probably made a complete tit of myself now]. [embarrassed]
