AIBU to ask how best to remove a barbecue sauce stain from my scarf?

Hi everyone!

Just a quick question to ask how best to clean my scarf :)

Sorry it's such a ridiculous question!!

It's a white scarf that I think is mainly made from acrylic. I stupidly spilled some barbecue sauce on it last night, which has marked it a little bit. I was going to put Vanish stain remover powder on it, but read on the bottle that it shouldn't really be used on anything that isn't cotton.

I'd be really grateful if you had any tips on how I could get rid of the sauce to make it sparkling clean once more!

Housekeeping is probably a more relevant section. Dampen the stain and rub washing up liquid into it and then rinse. Is it machine washable as you could then put it in the washing machine
