to not wash my hair before the hairdressers

So. .I have the hairdressers tomorrow. My hair needs a wash. I used some dry shampoo in it today to perk it up as didnt have time to wash it this morning. Would it be unreasonable to not wash it tomorrow morning and instead put some more dry shampoo in before my hairdresser appointment in the morning?

I'm thinking it's pointless washing it myself only to have the hairdresser wash it again for my appointment?

All you who wash their hair before you go to the hairdressers are a bunch of loons Grin no op dont be a loon dont wash your hair i hardly think it will be filthy

PassiveAgressiveQueen · 11/11/2016 09:20

Washing before you go is like the people who clean before the cleaner.

woodhill · 11/11/2016 09:41

Totally agree about the pedicure. A lot of people go in Summer wearing sandals and may be popping in on their way home so that's why they soak your feet.

I wouldn't go out my way to wash my feet. Shower in the morning.

My hairdresser prefers me not to. I have thick bum length hair & so only wash it once a week - she likes seeing what it looks like post 2-days so she can decide what treatments to offer.

Pre-DCs I used to go for a weekly blow-dry and never washed my hair in-between, four days down looking lovely, three days in a ponytail, still only wash my hair once a week, it goes a bit mad if I do and always looks its best between days two and five.

It would never occur to me to wash my hair before going.

Well it all worked out for the best...just had hair straightened and a dry cut as it was only a trim so it was cheaper and I didn't get a telling off. Happy days

I've been having my hair coloured for years... or even decades and every single hairdresser has always wanted my hair day or days old so they can work at putting the colour straight on whether it be foils or whatever.

MitzyLefrouf · 11/11/2016 11:23

Mine doesn't mitzy

Yes I know that. That's why I responded that mine did.

myfavouritecolourispurple · 11/11/2016 11:28

I don't wash my hair before I go the hairdressers unless I've been out running as I don't think they'd like to deal with sweaty hair. But day or 2-day old hair is ok, it's not yucky at all.

Blobby10 · 11/11/2016 11:33

Now I feel really manky as I NEVER wash my hair before I go to the hairdressers!! Shock I have felt the need to apologise once or twice as I went for a run beforehand and didn't wash it when I showered so it was really rather awful but my lovely hairdresser said he didn't mind they were washing it anyway and it lets him see what my hair is doing in its natural state Blush

part of the treat for me of going to the hairdressers (I only go 2 or 3 times a year) is to have someone else wash my hair Smile

Blobby10 · 11/11/2016 11:34

btw I only ever have cut and blow dry - never had my hair coloured or treated

TotallyOuting · 11/11/2016 21:53

Not an hour before you go but the OP is talking about not washing it the day before either.

If someone washes their hair every day normally of course their hair is likely to be gross if they don't wash it the day before going.

I think some people genuinely have never tried getting their hair/scalp used to a longer break. Which is fine, if they enjoy washing it every day, but it doesn't make everyone else's hair as greasy as they know theirs would be.

Cherryskypie · 12/11/2016 09:54

It's not the hair it's the scalp. The hair can look fine 3 or 4 days after washing but it smells because the scalp is unwashed. I wonder if some people are unable to smell it because they carry it around with them like (some) smokers and stale cigarette smoke.

Notagain16 · 12/11/2016 10:19

I went to the hairdressers once for highlights and he said my hair was so greasy they would have to wash and dry it before they could apply the colour Blush.
