Facebook has a lot to answer for!

I'm still in touch with my exs, one of which even come to my wedding and me and dh went to his. So I don't need to be a crazy stalker

sofato5miles · 07/11/2016 10:33

Yep. 2 months ago i thought my LinkedIn account was getting a lit of recruitment activity as i was getting a liad of anonymous views. Then i received a message from my ex from uni telling me how gorgeous i looked. l, of course fully aware that i look anything like i did 30 years ago, adked if he was drunk.

He was. Now a fully blown alcoholic and his life is collapsing around him. V sad.

Chimpfield · 07/11/2016 10:42

My DH's ex wife used my face book account to stalk our life together, and make life extremely difficult for us until a mutual friend found out and tipped us off - made me feel sick as she has access to some photos of our wedding I would never want the b!tch to see - call me naive but it did'nt cross my mind anyone would do this..............and no I was not the OW.

Batteriesallgone · 07/11/2016 10:46

Not now, but yeah of course on Facebook and such like! I used to regularly look up old exs. Happily married now though so I don't - not bothered by any 'might have beens' anymore. Facebook is pretty public and one of its main appeals is looking up people you used to know.

BonusNewt · 07/11/2016 10:56

Of course! Not just exes, everybody I have ever known even briefly! I can tell you what a boy I snogged once in New York 25 years ago and never saw or spoke to again is up to. I am v nosey. Luckily I am a journalist so am paid to be nosey on a professional basis as well as having it as a hobby Grin

maggiethemagpie · 07/11/2016 11:02

Not an ex, but I started following this girl I'd been to school with when I was 8 and not seen since then, as I found her on facebook and her life looked kind of interesting - she seemed to have it all, a wonderful job, photogenic family, fab house in London.

After about three years she changed her privacy settings, so I sent her a friend request not thinking for a minute that she'd a) remember me or b) want to be friends. But she did! And we've commented on each other's posts from time to time. So now I can legitimately 'stalk' her.

Not sure if I am a bit weird......

CruCru · 07/11/2016 11:05

I once looked up an ex on LinkedIn (he has set up his own business) but didn't realise at the time that he would know I'd looked him up. I regretted it as he was the sort of person to assume that this meant I was still interested in him.

KC225 · 07/11/2016 12:34

I wouldn't look up ex's despite wanting to for nosey's sake because they would assume I am still interested. Have looked up ex neighbours that emigrated. Old school friends, work colleagues. Weird thing is when you get back in touch with oaneone and after the initial 'what have you been up to' there is no conversation left and YOU KNOW why you drifted. I find myself cutting those people free.

Oysterbabe · 07/11/2016 12:42

All the time. I like to cheer myself up by checking if his life is still shit. It is.

InfiniteSheldon · 07/11/2016 13:55

I can't wait to read the Daily Mail

Me too.

OnceMoreIntoTheBleach · 07/11/2016 14:28

Yes, but I wish I hadn't!

DanicaJones · 07/11/2016 14:31

About 10 years ago i looked up an ex and discovered he'd died. Shock I don't know how he died.

orangeterry · 07/11/2016 14:33

DPs ex started 'stalking' us Facebook about a year ago.
She's since turned into a full blown stalker to the point where I'm in court in the new year as she's been charged with section 4 stalking .
Police got hold of her laptop and her background was a picture of me and DP from a wedding , we hadn't even seen the picture yet and she already had it ! 😳
We've both since deleted Facebook !

pinkyredrose · 07/11/2016 14:36

Why once what happened?!

NickiFury · 07/11/2016 14:37

Yes loads! Doesn't everyone?

I know I have been looked up as well judging by the fairly regular "oh was just thinking about you the other day, how's things?" Messages I get from them 😒

I have an ex, who used to read my public twitter without following. I used to give him shoutouts for a laugh.

I do, do it but not in a gross stalker way, just an idle curiousity way.

mumofthemonsters808 · 07/11/2016 14:51

I'm nosey, so I look at anyone and anything, I just can't help myself. I'd never contact them or send a friend request, I'm not that interested.I don't think anyone looks at mine because there's nothing interesting on there but if they do want to scroll through, it's upto them.

I must admit, me and my mates guilty pleasure is laughing at her exes posts and pictures, especially his beach shots, with him grinning like a Cheshire Cat in his speedos and 50 year old pot belly hanging over.He was a twat and probably still is one, but he gives us some laughs.

OnceMoreIntoTheBleach · 07/11/2016 15:01

Pinky I messaged him whilst drunk. Nothing bad or suggestive but late at night/early hours. Stupid and intrusive and pointless and possibly caused awkward scenario for him as he's married. I don't know why I did it but it was silly of me and I've felt bad ever since. He didn't reply Blush

Myrobalanna · 07/11/2016 15:08

Yes, of course (I love Facebook for this) and I know I've been looked up because one ex keeps contacting me/sending friend requests. I'm dying to know what sort of a fist he's made of life because he was super weird in the end. But...it's not worth potentially opening a can of worms so I ignore.

sillypussy · 07/11/2016 16:15

Oh yes!! Had a massive crush on the sexy gas engineer and found his fb account. Also his wife's acct and his daughter's acct (she's in her 20's). So I looked at all the photos I could find of him and drooled over them!

Very aware that reading this back makes me sound like a psycho! But in my defence he is gorgeous!!!

weresquirrel · 07/11/2016 18:59

I have looked up almost everyone I have ever known lol! Who hasn't?

MyHairNeedsASnip · 07/11/2016 19:04

Yes. In only a few clicks I end up looking at an old boyfriend from when I was 16's mum's neighbour's holiday photo's. I'm terrible for it.
