Fireworks in built up residential area at nearly midnight?

I live in a built up residential area, where the houses back onto alleyways (think one side of coronation street, kind of.
I also know there are children in the local area.
Now I fully appreciate its only once a year, and I love bonfire night and fireworks, but there are people living very close by still letting them off now, at close to midnight.
AIBU to think that they have had plenty of time earlier in the evening to have their fireworks, and that this time of night is a bit late to be setting them off, in a residential area with a fair few children?

This time of year simply brings up the twattery in otherwise fairly normal people. Yanbu but what can you do? Just hope they haven't got any left over for tomorrow night.

It's selfish and stupid of people to let them off so late. It was dark at 5:30 so they have had all evening. I love fireworks but I'm a bit at them being let off so late.🎆🎇🌠

Thank you. I thought maybe I was being a bit ott. There's still a few going off in the distance somewhere, at nearly 2, and it was defo fireworks. Still it seems to have stopped now so.

They were going off very close to our house at 1 and 4:15. Weirdly those are the times 9mo DS woke in the night

Legal until 1am for bonfire night I think, but yes it's annoying and some people are just selfish!

Some fecknut let one off at the field at the back of us at 5.40 this morning. The dog nearly shat herself, the cats had only just ventured outside after a week of refusing to go outdoors and worst of all, the bloody thing woke up DS2 who is unwell and had been up through the night and just managed to get settled.

I don't mind it; we keep the animals indoors and as calm as possible, give the dog a mild sedative from the vet as she's a spaniel and prone to being a little batshit at the best of times. My only gripe is that it goes on for so many nights; we've had it for a week so far and I guarantee there'll be more tonight.

It is ridiculous that they are legal until 1am in residential areas. As a pp said it gets dark at 5:30 so there is no need for them to go in that late.

This is the first year I've ever been really, really annoyed by them - they went off sporadically from about 2pm yesterday, then like crazy 4pm till at least 1am, and I've just heard about six going off now. It's bright outside! What madness is this?

3:30 am when some fucking arseholes started letting themselves off outside our house. About 10 minutes after I had finally managed to coax the dog out from under the furniture.

There's someone near us, every year they let off one of those screamer rocket things on the hour every hour until 6am. It's been 5 years now and I keep threatening to go and find them and shove said rocket up their arse and send them into orbit I even went out at 3am because I was so enraged that poorly DD and our boys (who usually sleep through anything) had been woken up again, but couldn't find them. Probably best to be fair because I reckon I'd have got arrested for GBH if I'd found them!

Thanks for the link Chardonnay, I've signed. Never been a big fan, nice to see but the noise is horrific in residential areas. This year was quite worrying though, my toddler has been diagnosed with reflex anoxic seizures so anything that gives her a fright can make her heart stop and her breathing stop, usually only for a few seconds but still terrifying. I got some ear defenders and she was ok but I'd be more than happy if fireworks couldn't be bought by the public.

By 10.30ish there were no more heard . Was my dogs first November 5th and she was fine , not a peep.

Legal until 1? The May have been allowed until 1 but I bet there is nothing saying they are legal until 1. Noise legislation doesn't work like that.

Wow, I had no idea it was that bad. Thankfully my son slept through them all, but I can completely see why it's annoying if it disturbs little ones.
And my cat wasn't too bad. He stayed in the living room by the radiator all curled up for most of it, as most of the ones really neat seemed to be coming from behind our house, so we left the cat in the front room with the door closed over a bit and some food and water, and he was okay.
But I do think that's late for where people live. I'll sign the petition

You must not set off fireworks between 11pm and 7am, except for: Bonfire Night, when the cut off is midnight. New Year's Eve, Diwali and Chinese New Year, when the cut off is 1am.

Our dog barks incessantly even with a calmer - he's a Border Collie and very active under normal circumstances - with fireworks he goes into manic mode. We had fireworks until around 12.30am - we live in a semi-rural area, so its not just a problem in built up residential parts of the country.
