I only buy butternut squash about once a year... It looks so good and pretty.
The reality is that it's fiddly to prepare and only tastes really good in a soup.

Likewise, I hadn't had a pomegranate in years but it looked so pretty and seasonal in lidls. Now I realise why I hardly ever buy it... It's fiddly as he'll to eat and the pith is sour.

Other foods;
Pears- grainy
Gala apples-floury and tasteless
Pumpkin-gloomy and tasteless/ anything it touches looks like poo
Herbal teas- smell great but taste blah
Peaches- taste great but the furry skin makes me shudder

What about roast butternut squash?! I consider roast butternut squash to be one of God's great gifts to man.

I had a very disappointing kiwi fruit the other day. Weirdly woolly texture.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 02/11/2016 22:05

Mango. It's a weirdly smelly slimy/hairy hybrid thing with a sinister wooden buttplug in the centre. Why?!

tofutti · 02/11/2016 22:11

Hate butternut squash. texture is all wrong.

Love mangos, pomegranates, papaya etc, pretty much all exotic fruit

Guavas are like Cinderella, and pears her ugly sisters

pennycarbonara · 02/11/2016 22:14

Anything with set icing, except fruit cake, but colourful icing more so
Chocolate eclairs
Whipped cream toppings and fillings
Marzipan
Chocolate yoghurts, mousses and the like
Most school tuck shop sweets
Peas - bland and they spill easily. Could never understand why they are such a staple.

Mybrainishurtingme · 02/11/2016 22:17

LadyMonica I just screached at that! Had to read it to hubby...... who has just confessed to not eating aubergine as "it looks like a penis that's been squashed/trapped in a cockring" Shock pmsl

TaterTots · 02/11/2016 22:18

Sushi. I refuse to believe anyone actually likes it - they just think it's trendy.

OhTheRoses · 02/11/2016 22:18

Agree with pomegranates.
Squid and whitebait
Oysters - slimy salty things. A bit like swallowing a seasoned and very large bogey
Okra - meh

Mybrainishurtingme · 02/11/2016 22:19

a sinister wooden buttplug

I'm actually choking with laughter at that

Still chuckling away Grin

Scholes34 · 02/11/2016 22:20

When goat's cheese is the only vegetarian option . . . :(

pumpkinpumkin · 02/11/2016 22:20

Mango = sweat and farts Confused
Falafel = horrible fragrant crumbly pieces of hell.
Rosemary herb on anything just blugh.
Goat cheese =!work of the devil and tastes like sheeps bum

WinterIsHereJon · 02/11/2016 22:21

Passion fruit. What is the point?

tofutti · 02/11/2016 22:23

I'm very untrendy and sometimes I crave sushi (salmon nigiri) with lots of ginger, wasabi and soy sauce. Maybe it's the salt i like.

Is quite overpriced.

SaucyJack · 02/11/2016 22:23

Takeaway pizza- tasteless stodgy.
Cake..... generally meh.

tofutti · 02/11/2016 22:24

horrible fragrant crumbly pieces of hell.

Instantly thought of poo crumbs...

SpaceToad · 02/11/2016 22:25

Tatertots I love sushi. Even the weird sea urchin ones that taste a bit of petrol.

notagiraffe · 02/11/2016 22:27

Pancakes. They smell divine but they're all flabby and fatty. I love cooking them for DC but never eat them.

leanback · 02/11/2016 22:29

Shock at many of these choices!!! Cake?!?!? CAKE?!?!

OhTheRoses · 02/11/2016 22:30

I didn't register it first time MyBrain. Grin

Dontaskmegoogleit · 02/11/2016 22:31

Finally tried lobster this year. Not sure whether it was cooked correctly but was tasteless and rubbery.

TaterTots · 02/11/2016 22:34

Cupcakes. All flashy looks and no substance. The TOWIE girl of the cake world.

Muddlewitch · 02/11/2016 22:35

Agree with blueberries, the skin:flesh ratio just doesn't work. Agree with brownies too.

Olives. I really think I should like them, and in fact try them probably about once a year convinced I must have been wrong the umpteen previous times I've tried them but no, still taste like vinegary eyeballs to me.

IrregularCommentary · 02/11/2016 22:36

Bacon. Smells absolutely divine, tastes alright.

Shock I love most of these foods! Except sushi, its just bland and cold rice makes me feel sick. And its so expensive, I'm sure everyone is lying when they say they like it.
