Those bloody toot toot cars are driving me crazy!

So glad my mum gave me my brothers old lot so I didn't waste my money buying a whole new set now I know how annoying they are.

Our son is deaf & autistic, he ADORES the Toot Toot vehicles and wanders around all day with one pressed to his ear, playing the tunes over and over. We've become immune to the noise, there is always at least one toy playing if not two completely different ones. If we're lucky, he switches over to the Baby Einstein classical music, or even to a Tomy air guitar so we get a burst of Queen ..

btw - it's "My roof is down, climb in, let's go" (rather than being in Tesco's)

My current favourite is a Leapfrog remote control, it says "I see two circles" etc. My response is nearly always "I see dead people, but I don't shout about it" ....

dannydyerismydad · 02/11/2016 20:41

Karlakitten1 · 02/11/2016 20:45

I'm a soft and spotted cow, hug me, love me all day long! Arggghhhhhhg! Splat!

princesspineapple · 02/11/2016 20:46

I fucking HATE Cora the smart cub... "hello bay-beee... I'm coraaaa" Angry
"D"M has bought DD pretty much the whole VTECH range for christmas because DD loves Cora and that bloody walker... I think it's her revenge for my being a terrible teenager. Or she's just a sadist.

Redhead79 · 02/11/2016 20:53

Nooooooo, we've put toot toot cars on a wish list for dd 1st birthday.....

oldsilver · 02/11/2016 20:54

The evil that was the wheel and wiggle caterpillar. Especially when the batteries ran down - it would set itself off from the depths of the toy box at midnight wiiiiigggllllle wiiiigggllllleeee. I hope the church playgroup where I moved it on to when DS was older, was able to contain that lost soul....safely. Mwah ha ha.

Soubriquet · 02/11/2016 20:58

Grin. Hope all the parents with VTech gear imminent are prepared to lose the will to live

BlueChameleon, is it only the animals not move - do the cars move? Esme we have got Miss Norah and her house for DD2 for her 2nd birthday along with the toot toot train station - I have a funny feeling we may regret it after reading this thread!

2catsandadog · 02/11/2016 21:01

Alphabet Fucking Town.

The voice sounds like a sex pest.

And thst singing puppy thing. It needs to go into a dark cavern with concrete on the top. Lots of concrete.

Soubriquet · 02/11/2016 21:01

The cars don't move either btw

You have to push them along like all toy cars

I will say YAB a bit U.

It's designed for kids, not their parents. Every bit of VTech stuff my 22 months old DD owns, gets her attention for hours. Or used to. Before she discovered Peppa and Twirlywoos.

Anyway, right now we have the walker, the bear (I call it HeisenbergGrin), lullaby lamb, feed me dino, turn and learn cube, torch, and lettersaurus. The only thing that seems to be dying is the lamb because we've had it since before DD was born. These toys don't break and they keep your DCs occupied. Yes, they are annoying as fuck but I prefer "Hello puppy calling..." and "The cat in the star..." to crying.

Heirhelp · 02/11/2016 21:13

play and learn with your animals friends. Can you find the triangle? if they can't crawl yet they definitely don't know their shapes.

I have having this conversation about the evilness of v-tech noisy toys today.

gunting · 02/11/2016 21:17

The toot toot train is motorised, i think its the only one that is. Its a smug little bastard though.

Sparrowlegs248 · 02/11/2016 21:23

We have two Alfie bears. Ds loves it, and at one stage it was the only thing that distracted him.

We have a toot toot speedboat, my mum bought it, most annoying thing in the world, ever. It's stopped making noise though thank God. Ds launched it at the tiled floor one too many times.

Sparrowlegs248 · 02/11/2016 21:31

Oh we have a toot toot car with remote control, so it does move without pushing. I thought that was the point? We don't have the track though.

I'm a supercool speedboat!!!!

RainbowRabbit33 · 02/11/2016 21:32

Noooo.... Not the light up bear! I hate the light up bear of evil! No, I don't want to fucking hug you! I have one child. I have a friend with twins who kindly passes down toys to me. For some reason I didn't twig when she gave me two of the same thing. I just thought it was kind of her. I swear those bastard things used to set each other off. I was pleased when DD got a bit bored with them and I got away with hiding them. Until we went on holiday a year later...

The baby play room in our hotel had a sodding light up bear. You know what's worse than the somehow menacing invitation to hug the evil bear? A menacing invitation delivered in Turkish. Repeatedly. To the same tune. DD loved the sodding thing. Every bastard day we had to go to that room and play with the bear. I hate the bear.

On the plus side, I am now able to count to three in Turkish.

Soubriquet · 02/11/2016 21:33

Sounds like most parents have encountered the bear

TheLegendOfBeans · 02/11/2016 21:42

Rainbow Rabbit am actually pissing myself at your post.

We are going to get a Dutch talking VTech toy for DD for Christmas (we move next year).

It's been nice knowing you all....

liz70 · 02/11/2016 21:43

DD3 has Good Night Scout. She's seven now and still has the 20 minutes of lullabies playing every night at bedtime. No malfunctioning or turning on by itself here.

MrsMogginsMinge · 02/11/2016 21:44

YANBU. The songs don't even rhyme or make any sense. It's like they just focus grouped words that appeal to toddlers and jammed them together.

One of the little bastards has a particularly nasal and earnest quality to his voice and is known in our house as Ed Millivan.

chocomochi · 02/11/2016 21:52

My DCs never had vtech but have just bought my sister's DC the nursery rhyme book and toot toot track. Oops. Hope she doesn't hate me!

SalemSaberhagen · 03/11/2016 01:02

Esme that house! DD used to call her 'Norah', and all of the other people 'other Norahs'.

'Love it, oh so maaaaaaaarch'.

Anyone else have the toot toot pig? DP said it sounded like some guy had recorded it on a microphone in his garage.
