Is this true? I buy 95% of my clothes from next and my son has always laughed saying it's a granny shop. I always thought it was quite trendy but then my trendy radar has always malfunctioned 😄 Anyway at work yesterday everyone was saying how they can't understand the appeal of Next and I noticed on a thread on here just now, hardly

AIBU to predominantly shop at Next at 35 years old?

Next own Lipsy, that's why you see them online. I assume that the younger brands are aimed at people who need the credit facility to afford them as you can usually find the same products cheaper elsewhere.

I never thought it was a granny shop. A 'granny shop' for me would be something along the lines of Bon Marche (are they still going?).

Some of their clothes might be for the 'older generation' but I wouldn't say they were exclusively a granny shop. I really like some of their kids clothes for the dc too.

I'm in my forties. Used to shop regularly in next (in the 90s), loved their children's clothes and could get good-quality basics for me in tall sizes. They had good, plainish but nice fabrics, such as cotton tops/t-shirts. They washed well and were good for work. Now I rarely get anything there except jeans. Cheap/flimsy materials, garish patterns, ill-fitting, too low-cut.

Also agree with PP re cheap 'embellishments' - sometimes I spot a nice, plainish jumper/top and get excited, only to find it's got a crappy looking logo or applique/sequins on it.

I shop in phase 8, new look (apricot section), top shop, karen millen, hobbs etc, and get better quality clothing from ebay. Next are one step up from primark nowadays. It's a shame, when all I really want is somewhere that sells fairly plain basics.

Zara & H&M are non-starters with their ridiculous sizing - I'm a tall size 12 and even their large/xl sizes are too small at times, plus way too short.
