To ask you who actually buys Garibaldis?

In the staff room today there was a severe biscuit shortage and by the time I got in for a brew, there were only Garibaldis left.

These have surely got to be the worst 'biscuits' of all time? They're basically just cardboard with some currants in them. They remind me of going to my grandma's house circa 1983 where she always had a packet open that never seemed to actually deplete.

Who is buying these things? Oh, and what would you prefer to a Garibaldi? I'm partial to a nice Ginger nut, myself.

YABVVVU a biscuit is a biscuit and a garbaldi is a biscuit in all its glory.
Ditto for fig rolls, and fruit shortcakes.
I love biscuits

BowieFan · 24/10/2016 20:25

DS has returned from the Co-Op with... Mr Kipling's Lemon Slices Hmm

"Well they've got Lemon in them!" - yep, he definitely takes after DP.

AIBU to send him back until he either brings me the right biscuits or dies of hypothermia? Grin

Dead fly biscuits are the best, closely followed by fig rolls obviously

VladimirsPooTin · 24/10/2016 21:28

Fig rolls are foul and stick your mouth together.

Also who is buying digestives? I can only assume people who are making cheesecakes.

londonrach · 24/10/2016 21:30

Thanks. Adding party rings to list as well.. Forgotten about garibaldi. Really want one now!!!!!!!

londonrach · 24/10/2016 21:34

Adaisy..you can make them? At home? In an oven?

Aeroflotgirl · 24/10/2016 21:37

You are mad, they are😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😙. Love love love em.

annandale · 24/10/2016 21:38

Can't buy Garibaldis because if I open the packet, I just fold the whole packet into my mouth like dot matrix printer paper. Love them but love hurts.

RaspberryOverloadTheFirst · 24/10/2016 21:41

Garibaldis are OK, but DP and DS love them. They have the nickname of "dead fly biscuits" in our house Grin

OTOH I can polish off a pack of fig rolls verrrrry quickly...

I'd eat just about any biscuit except those dry pink wafers, but I can't imagine why anyone actively chooses a Garibaldi when there are so many other nicer ones. Confused

Ankleswingers · 24/10/2016 21:46

Grin blueturtle66

I love biscuits too Smile

VladimirsPooTin · 24/10/2016 21:47

Why would anyone opt for a biscuit that contains no chocolate? It is a mystery! Shock

Masketti · 24/10/2016 21:49

Love them! I'm on the 5:2 diet today so starving!!! Will be buying some tomorrow now!

BowieFan · 24/10/2016 22:23

It's alright, I've decided I'm going to Tesco in the morning and buying some proper biscuits. People have been complaining about Garibaldis for a whole week but nobody's took the tea money tin to replace them with something good.

I'm taking the law into my own hands (it's not my turn) and buying some proper biscuits tomorrow. Chocolate malted milk, hobnobs and shortbread for all!

I love garibaldis - can't buy them because I end up eating a whole strip in one sitting - if not two. Now lemon puffs really are the spawn of the devil Wink.

PoppyPicklesPenguin · 25/10/2016 00:51

Dead fly biscuits are nearly as good as beetroot :)

BeastofCraggyIsland · 25/10/2016 01:33

I would have wondered this until I met DP but he absolutely loves them, he can eat an entire packet in one go. I'm not a fan, I don't do biscuits unless they involve chocolate; M&S Belgian chocolate chunk cookies are more my thing.

graphista · 25/10/2016 01:44

Ok I'm about to throw real controversy into the mix, I suspect this may be a Scots or even just a weegie thing but did any of you used to get given rich tea biscuits sandwiched with butter as a snack?

I love Garibaldi's great for that very British pursuit of dunking in tea. Fig rolls too but I daren't buy them as the whole packet gets polished off!

Comedyusername · 25/10/2016 02:36

2 rich teas with Nutella in the middle. Divine!

And I bought a pack of Garibaldis only last week, first time in about 10 years. They didn't even last the evening

KickAssAngel · 25/10/2016 02:49

I love Garibaldis. Must get some next time I'm in the UK.

Also - lemon puffs, butter biscuits, rich tea, and malted milks.
