Like the title says, why is it a ptoblem if a user name changes on here? Or why do some posters have issues with certain usernames? Please enlighten me and can't work it out...😊

Oh the royalty thing. Yawn.

I name changed once after Jeffgate for a couple of weeks and hated it. I haven't had any reason to name change that's why I don't.

HerSpookyFattyness · 24/10/2016 08:43

I'm not royalty. Not at the minute anyway as I have a halloweeny namechange. I am usually HerRoyalFattyness, so technically royalty. Just not in the way posters here mean.
I'm very Halloween Confused when people mention the royalty that everyone knows. I feel I'm missing something. Who are they?

Sparklingbrook · 24/10/2016 08:46

Nobody ever says Fatty. Maybe one day all will be explained.

Wellywife · 24/10/2016 08:47

I name changed when DD (13!) decided to register on MN and said are you 'xxx'. I wasn't but decided to change names anyway.

HerSpookyFattyness · 24/10/2016 08:48

sparkling do you think they're just working up to a big reveal? It's dragging a bit if they are.

Isitadoubleentendre · 24/10/2016 08:50

I NC when I feel I've shared enough bout me than I'd want someone to piece together. Not that anyone would be sad enough to do, but I just feel better for it.

Same here. The problem is, one your identifiable everything you say is so visible. So even if you are not being nasty, you have to be careful what you say, as everyone can hear. Even in real life, you don't say everything to everyone when anyone can hear, yet that is what you are doing on here.

And while no one is going to sit and piece together everything, it only takes one post that sounds familiar to someone and a quick advanced search and you can be found.

To be fair, most of the 'regulars' who are still here don't post anything identifying at all, but I used to be quite surprised at how identifying some people used to make themselves.

Sparklingbrook · 24/10/2016 08:54

Probably Fatty Grin Someone could namechange, reveal the lot then namechange again maybe.

I have no idea whether accusing someone of being royalty breaches Talk Guidelines though.

MissHooliesCardigan · 24/10/2016 08:59

For ages, I thought that user727373925460 was all the same person. I only twigged when there were 2 of them on the same thread violently disagreeing with each other.

A lot of internet searchs bring up MN on the first page- chances are someone could be recognised,

Ginslinger · 24/10/2016 09:26

I have been here for years and never changed my name and the idea that I could be mumsnet royalty is beyond hilarious.

Ginslinger · 24/10/2016 09:36

thank you Sparkling - we could be the Beatrice and Eugenie of mumsnet Grin

Sparklingbrook · 24/10/2016 09:38

Ooh minor royalty. I will be Eugenie, you can wear the loo seat hat Gin. Grin

PumpkinOfLinus · 24/10/2016 09:38

I NC every few months, I like to be seasonal.

Thornrose · 24/10/2016 09:44

Ha I read the title and just knew the MN royalty line would be trotted out . Grin

Jellybean83 · 24/10/2016 09:53

The name change facility is handy, when I first joined I didn't quite 'get' AIBU and posted a thread (PFB one, I cringe thinking back) and got absolutely slated, so I'm glad I had the option to change my username.

ImperialBlether · 24/10/2016 10:01

It's odd how you do recognise people on here, even with different names. There are a few posters I recognise, even though they NC for every thread (because they don't like the advice given to them.)

The ones that make me laugh are the posters who say they've NC because they don't want to be outed and then say they have two children and a MIL problem. Like that's unique!

QueenMagiMedi · 24/10/2016 10:06

I'd never recognise anyone by their posting style - apart from Zombie

I have only n/c once - to this very name when the tedious subject of MN Royalty came up!

If a few of you grovel to me I might make this permanent Grin

magimedi · 24/10/2016 10:08

If a few of you grovel to me I might make this permanent

But I don't think I could cope with the adulation Grin

Thornrose · 24/10/2016 10:12

I notice that there is an increasing tendency for posters to want to get their threads deleted when they aren't getting the answers they wanted. Someone even claimed the other day that their thread compromised their anonymity even through they'd admitted name changing for it!
