Friend giving dog same name as my ex?

My friend has bought a puppy (not got him yet as still too young).

He's undecided on a name and has changed his mind around 4 times.

I had my ex break up with me just days ago and now friend has again changed their mind and wants to give the puppy same name as my ex.

Aibu to think this is weird?

Maybe he just thinks your ex is a dog.

But yes it's probably insulting to the dog :-)

if the dog/ex is called something like Max/Sam/Ben/Charlie, ie, popular dog names, then YABU.

if the dog/ex is called Ebeneezer/Thor/Simon, then it might more more pointed.

Actually, if your ex was called Thor...
