I've snogged every member of Boyzone, including Ronan. I am incredibly proud of this...

DP is fond of telling everyone how much the Queen Mother loved his fart joke. He was escorting her around his barracks when one of the ceremonial horses which had pulled her carriage farted, the Queen Mother said "Oh, I'm terribly sorry!" to which DP replied "Oh, I thought it was the horse!"

He says she split her sides laughing... Hmm

We were on a one day "booze cruise" in Barbados and Frank Bruno was on it too. I was trying to get a crafty photo of him, and he came over and said, "I saw you sneakin'!" He was absolutely lovely, and posed for a photo with our DS.

The whole family has met Bowling for Soup on numerous occasions - they give the most amazing hugs, and Jaret smells delicious! - and Eric took a real shine to our DD, then in her late teens. He cuddled her for so long my DH whispered to me, "Do you think I should say something?" Actually, thinking about it, the same thing happened with Russell Howard - I really need to keep an eye on her!

I often see Keith Chegwin in my local M&S
I also used to work with one of this years x-factor finalists Grin

I got asked out by the childhood actor who played Zammo in Grange Hill.

I was standing next to Tina Fey whilst in a shop in NY buying a handbag. I didn't know who she was but the guy serving me was having hysterics.

Sat chatting to Jarvis Cocker whilst Pulp did their warm up in the Students Union where I was working behind the bar

Bumped in Shaun Ryder walking down a street in Manchester - he was drunk and fell over. He was very sweet and apologised.

At the airport going through the scanner thingy - I was standing behind James Purefoy - he dropped his passport and boarding pass and I picked it up - he was a bit rude when I tried to tell him and give them back to him.

I regularly chat to one of the football dad's at school. He is still known as one of the best premier league players. Very unassuming and genuinely a nice man. He is very complimentary about my DS Smile

They filmed a Tom Cruise movie where my DP works and DP was tasked with showing him round the base. He was showing him one of the fighter jets and DP said (not thinking) "Oh I bet you know all this already, eh?" not realising that he'd just unknowingly brought up Top Gun. Tom Cruise laughed and said "Plenty of experience!" and I bet everybody sighed from relief.

DP's met Chris Moyles as well who was apparently awful. DP has a lot of time for Jim Davidson despite not liking his comedy, because he's done quite a lot of shows for the troops and does a lot for forces-related charities. Jeremy Clarkson is apparently very friendly, funny and has no filter and treats everybody the same, which is always nice to know. Again, he's done a lot for forces-related charities.

I once borrowed Robbie Williams laptop- filthiest keyboard in history! Man needs antibacterial wipes...

Thingmcthingyface · 20/10/2016 15:20

Ive sold shoes to Catherine Tate, and not worked with but heard absolute horror stories about Jeremy Clarkson (screaming in runners faces for getting his coffee order slightly wrong). I've had a few local encounters with Iwan Reon (Ramsey from Game of Thrones). He seems very nice but cant help but be terrified of him...

Thingmcthingyface · 20/10/2016 15:23

Oh and I once spent a night in bar with Amy Winehouse. She was very very very drunk and I'll never forget when she left the pub we were in the blinding paparazzi flashes that went on for at least 4 minutes outside. It was really shocking.

BertrandRussell · 20/10/2016 15:25

I showered Michael Parkinson with meringue crumbs once.........

BowieFan · 20/10/2016 15:29

Michael Palin was awful to me on the tube once. Just kidding. He was lovely - I fainted from having not eaten and being stressed and he got me some bottled water and phoned an ambulance and waited with me. Lovely man.

Can you imagine if Michael Palin was an arse though? It'd ruin my life completely.

There've been a fair few, including the Antonio Banderas one with the biscuits, but one of the funniest had to be when there was a read-through for a TV miniseries at our arts centre.

It was memorable to me for various reasons, not least feeding the cast gluten free cake without any of them realising and overhearing lots of complimentary remarks, but my favourite moment was when our cat pranced into the courtyard as they were on a break, complete with live and indignant pigeon in his furry ginger chops. To which I was alerted by a cry of "Oh, that poor pigeon!" Hmm I am no lover of the filthy beasts, so I've never had a problem with his hobby.

Was probably more entertained than I should have been at the sight of Julian Fellowes and Celia Imrie trying to shoo him away so as not to distress the more fragile cast members Grin

Oh and my dd was presented with a prize for best kept pet by Barry from Eastenders. He was very nice- although he obviously couldn't bear the thought of touching a rat................b

chickensaresafehere · 20/10/2016 15:36

Wayne Sleep was a regular in my cafe for the week he was in a show at the the theatre next door to me - he was such a lovely man,as was his boyfriend.
As a result of being next to said theatre,I met quite a few celebrities, mostly from 70's/80's soaps mind,so not very thrilling - Rene from 'Allo 'Allo,Robin Askwith (Confessions of),John Challis (Boycie from Only Fools & Horses),Ken Dodd,Barbara Windsor(not a nice woman!!)
Also kissed Mads Mikkelsen(on the cheek & before he was very famous),he was stunningly gorgeous, smelt divine & was an absolute gentleman >

takesnoprisoners · 20/10/2016 15:38

Daniel Day Lewis. HUGE fan. Saw him at the airport, stood in front speechless and grinning like an idiot. He smiled, said hello and walked away. I was grinning like an idiot for the entire trip. I am an idiot.

ButterfliesRfree · 20/10/2016 15:38

So funny reading everyone's stories and what everyone got up to years ago. Just think, right now some young one is making their mark on culture and encountering one of their favourite or known celebs too. In about 10-20 years time we will read about it here Grin. Interesting read. Thx

garlicandsapphire · 20/10/2016 15:39

Stayed with Eddie Izzard and his mates at Edinburgh festival when he was a street escapologist.

Rob Newman (of Newman and Baddiel) asked me out.

Sir Terence Conran saved me at a posh dinner when both the men on either side of me turned to talk to other people and I was left with no one to talk to as the nobody at the table. Conran engaged me in a funny conversation and suddenly everyone else started talking to me.

takesnoprisoners · 20/10/2016 15:44

DH was at the American Embassy and a lady was in front of him, queueing. After about 30 minutes, Jeremy Clarkson came in and turns out she was queueing for him. Apparently DH and JC had a good chat and had a few laughs. I don't know if I believe him. JC and nice?

BowieFan · 20/10/2016 15:47

You lucky git! I got a kiss on the cheek from Kit Harrington when we took our class to see War Horse. He was lovely and smelled nice as well. And his bum looked very nice in those trousers as well.

Dermot O'Leary sat in front of us in church one Easter and I shook his hand in the "peace be with you"'s. Grin

NorthStarAtMyFeet · 20/10/2016 15:56

Gabs I am so happy to hear that Seal is lovely.

lizzieoak · 20/10/2016 16:04

I've had a few encounters w the very best doctor, David Tennant. I was an extra and (not sure if this is normal but) extras were not allowed to speak to the actors. It was like having a communicable disease. Staff who did get to speak to him said he was really lovely.

Practically had breakfast w him when he pitched up at the (amazing) spread put on for our breakfast. It was only extras and gnarled grips, and he looked a wee bit lonely as we all had to pretend he wasn't there.

Another day they decided to go mad on my hair & I was sent to the actors hair trailer & say there for 15 minutes listening as he chatted to his stylist. He seemed very cheery & sweet.

Third encounter was at the craftie (tea tent) when I was chatting away to one of the crew about where to buy groceries. DT was ear-wigging & I heard from the grocery staff that he'd then been in for a few things.

I was also in some scenes w him and (of course) he's awfully good. I noticed his accent switched straight to Scots as soon as the cameras turned off.

lizzieoak · 20/10/2016 16:30

Forgot to say, I was trapped in a vestibule w David Tennant right before a very intense scene (and unlike most extras, I'm not trying to break into the business) & he was staring into the middle distance for ages, problem being that I was right in front of him (like 10 feet away). I was a tad mesmerised so didn't look away, but instead smiled at him periodically in a commiserating way (as I was bored to bits waiting for them to set up). Probably not what you want right before a very intense scene, some mad Whovian beaming at you! And they managed to cut me out of the scene, which, given where they placed me, seemed to call for some effort (but then perhaps camera angles ...?)

Nannynowamummy · 20/10/2016 16:46

Angelina Jolie in a lift (with her bodyguards) in a European hotel.

Strangely enough, I was naive enough to ONLY notice when her lips caught my attention Grin

She was polite.

EastMidsGPs · 20/10/2016 17:26

Many many years ago, after buying tickets at a local theatre the outside door was held open for me. The very well spoken man who held the door asked me if I could recommend things to see in the city as he was there working, at a loose end and wanted to past the time.
I mentioned a few places and he asked if I was doing anything that day (I wasn't) so I accompanied him to the city's most famous landmark and then to the pub the place is also famous for.
I spent most of a very interesting day with him, he bought me lunch and he was intelligent and great company.

.... the man was Peter Sallie .. Clegg from last of the Summer Wine. He was in the city for something theatrical
