To wonder how all the toys I see for sale second hand stay in such mint condition?

I am on a couple of local Facebook groups where people sell the second hand baby and kid stuff including toys - always lovely things come up, not unwanted gifts but things their kids have played with and grown out of. But How does anyone keep their stuff in such good nick? When my kids play with things they really play with it - nothing survives pristine - legs are pulled off, faces scribbled on etc. I don;t mind - I love they get proper use from toys (well I do mind the scribbled faces, but I don't mind a bit of a bash), but I genuinely don;t know how things look unplayed with.

Some are not as played with as others

Parents spend a lot of time cleaning it up

We don't allow pens free range either so no chance for scribbled toys

Maybe they are toys the children didn't really like

Maybe they aren't allowed pens to do whatever with

redskytonight · 18/10/2016 13:36

They haven't been played with.
The children are only allowed to play with them under close supervision (they will have the parents whose play doh will have remained as pristine individual colours as the children can only play with one colour at a time).

Agree with others, either they have been allowed to play with them/got stuffed in a cupboard and forgotten about or the kids didn't like them or grew out of them quickly.

We never allowed pens out as the same time as toys: you're either drawing/writing or playing. Not both at once. Same as no pens/craft stuff in bedrooms ever.

Plus most toys scrub up well in the dishwasher/washing machine!

Toys they really wanted and played with two or three times. Sold a whole ELC village on Gumtree

Some toys get played with more than others.

The DCs firm favourites do get bashed about a bit, yes.

But they have had loads of toys. Some of the less favoured ones have barely been played with at all. And some toys are more robust and clean up more easily than others.

They have in laws like mine who go bonkers at Christmas I expect.
