Chlamydia.....After 6 Years?

So my DP got tested for some other issues and found out that they have chlamydia. They swear blind it was before we met in fact the very last partner before we met. 6 Years ago

I've just had to take a horse pill of antibiotics.

Now, I know it's FEASIBLE that this has happened but what would you say percentage wise that they haven't been with someone else?

A quick Google altho I don't know how accurate says nearly half of men have no symptoms . Assuming he didn't have symptoms and this was discovered during a routine test then it's feasible he could have had it all this time .

For me it would be about why he had the test in the first place ? That may give a clue as to whether he has been unfaithful or not

Has he been tested whilst in your relationship or was this the first time?

Have you had any children in that time? Do they test for that routinely in pregnancy? If you and they both had no symptoms, it wouldn't just go away, would it? Have you spoken to your exs of 6 years ago? They will need treatment too if it was since then, or they may confirm they had it and have treated it already. If not, it must have come from somewhere.

Interesting that OP very deliberately said 'DP' and 'they' yet you're all leaping to the conclusion that the partner is a man.

To answer your question, it is possible but if either of you are women, it's not good news for your fertility if the infection has been present for >6 years.

Totally feasible that your DP could have been a carrier for years.

Also, this is why I'd make a big plea for all women and men to get a routine sexual health test for them and their Partner before engaging in any non protected sexual activity.

You can be the cleanest, most careful and most responsible/respecibke person ever and STI's could still have found their way into your system if you've ever had a protected sexual contact.

Never feel embarrassed suggesting it, never feel embarrassed getting checked out. When my now DH and I got together, a couple months in we both went and got checked out and were given clean bills of health before we ditched the condoms.

If either of you have had it for 6+ years your fertility will be seriously compromised. One of the first tests they do when fertility checking is for chlamydia

It's entirely possible. A close male family member of mine found out he had it and had passed it onto his wife, knowing him I'm as sure as I can be he didn't cheat on her he'd had it for years.

Not unusual in my professional experience and it may well be you that gave it to dp if you have previously had ups.

Make sure you both go back for retesting to ensure it has been treated successfully.

OP how'd you know that you haven't been carrying it all this time and in fact it was you that gave it to your DP?
